Summary: This book is a godsend!
Review:
As a member of a Seattle-based band struggling to survive in the post-grunge era, I found salvation in this book. Everything you need to know is here; promoting yourself, getting those shows that everyone around you is competing for, making the most of your stage time, and GETTING PAID!

There are many, many books out there about the music business, but many of them deal with the level beyond--courting a label, for example, or how to hire a press agent. This book is a bible for bands that are just getting started and need to learn the ins and outs of the scene. Worth every penny, and then some.

Summary: ALL AREA ACCESS Where would I be without it.
Review: ALL AREA ACCESS Who ever you are Mr. Davison, thank you for writing this book. I have purchased several books on the music business and much to my dismay I have found them to not only to be incomplete but they deal with subjects that do not apply to the daily experiences of struggling unsigned bands. ALL AREA ACCESS is the only book I have ever come across that is hands on and completely applicable to the day in and day out needs of a musician. It has opened me up to so many new avenues for my band including the college curcuit where I have just successfully booked a $1,000 event that never would have happened if it weren't for the book. I am forever grateful.

Summary: Lots of info
Review: ALL AREAS ACCESS was a useful tool because it covers the music industry from the ground up. From starting the band to booking shows to getting signed, this book basically covers it all.

I found many useful features in this book, including the layout (spaced-out paragraphs with Bold headlines), the samples (press releases, logos, you name it), and the scope of information (basic to more advanced). The tone is conversational, as if you have a pal who's letting you in on the inside scoop of the music business. The typos did bug me, though -- didn't someone copy-edit this book before it went to press?

I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the music business. It's a great place to start, and provides a lot of useful information.

Summary: My Testimonial on All Area Access
Review: An unbelievable wealth of information!! After reading thisbook non-stop, cover to cover, I set out immediately applying themethods, using the forms, and walking the talk. Guess what? In less than a month, I have label interest in one of my songs, and I co-host the hottest writers Showcase in Houston. This book made it possible for me to overcome the gnawing fear I used to have about looking like a rank amateur and in front of booking agents, and club owners. It has always been my dream to see Houston area writers and performers get the same attention and pay as the NashVegas crowd, and now it's really beginning to happen!! Thank you Mr. Davison - If you are ever in Houston, please allow me to comp your drinks and thank you in person for writing this book - oops, gotta go - my cell phone is ringing AGAIN!!

Summary: Comprehensive and Musician Friendly
Review: As a music professional, I have an extensive library of music books. (Passman's "All You Need to Know..." Siegel's "Breaking Into The Music Biz." etc.) Though much of my library is informative; Davison's book is one of my favorites. He offers a simple, understandable layout with applicable content. For all musician's who want to learn how to manage their careers, I recommend this book. It covers all bases; from performance, publicity, booking, releasing an independent CD and more. Complete with diagrams and illustrations; "All Area Access" is a "how to" book, rather than a myriad of music industry lingo.

Summary: Bought this book and hit a home run!!!!!
Review: Best book on the music business that I've ever read. Pure and simple, deals with just about every element that pertains to being an unsigned band. Read so many titles that dealt with topics that don't apply it was refreshing to turn these pages and find practical and sensible advice - the kind of advice a band would get from a manager if they could find one.

Hive five Mr. D.

The best part about the book is the way Marc explains everything. No matter what questions popped into my head, I continue reading, and there was the answer.

Summary: Letter to the reader
Review: Dear Reader:

With kindness and respect, I humbly thank each and every one of you for considering this book as your source for guidance in the music business. I spent three years writing it and twenty years living it.

My goal as a writer, manager and kindred spirit to all my musicians and manager friends is to pass on my torch of knowledge and experience.

Inside the book, you will find the answers to how things work in this complicated business along with my detailed explanations of how to make it all work for you. There are sample contracts, riders, accounting forms, merchandising forms, advance booking forms, spread sheets, tour reports and so many other daily formats that I used for my clients. I have prepared them in blank format (so that you can copy them for yourself) and filled out, so you will understand exactly how to use them.

The book also contains information regarding my web site. I expect you to stop by and join the thousands of other students there who use it for continued education.

As this book is all about furthering your career, I feel that unless I do it 100% I shouldn't do it at all.

Thanks to all who have purchased the book and good luck to all of you.

With love, Marc Davison

Summary: I Loved This Book
Review: Despite some of the negative reviews written here, I purchased this book based upon the table of contents. After reading it THREE TIMES, I'm convinced that those reviews where written by people who never read the book or authors of competing books.

ALL AREA ACCESS is the best 380 pages I've ever read on this business. Finally, someone attacked the fundementals. I came away feeling much more enlightened about the industry and what it requires from me as an artist.

If you're a know it all loser like so many artists out there who have nothing better to do than complain about no one giving you a break, this books not for you. Then again nothing is.

I read it, followed the advice, especially the booking elements and the recording elements and I've got my band playing more shows and getting paid at least double what we did prior to reading it. If Mr. Davison is anyone, he's an elightened member of the business who took some time out of his life to teach those of us who know nothing other than how to play an instrument the most basic elements. Thank you sir!
