Rating: Summary: Titanic Doesn't Sink Review: Applause Books has published a beautiful and riveting edition of the Broadway musical "Titanic." In "Titanic: The Complete Book of the Musical" Peter Stone and Maury Yeston take us on their maiden voyage to getting the show mounted. The show endured disasterous technical difficulties in the previews and ended up shining on Tony night.I had the opportunity to see the musical in New York last year. Of course, the book has special interest to me. However, any musical theatre lover will want this book for their library. It's beautifully done with many rehearsal and production photos. And of course the entire book and lyrics of the musical are included. As the song says, "Sail on great ship Titanic". Happy reading
Rating: Summary: As amazing as the show itself... Review: I am only 14 and I have seen many Broadway Musicals. This one is definatly up there with my top ten. The power of how all of the different people acted and learned on the great ship is greatly shown in this book. The musical really highlights on the fact that all of the classes looked at the world with different eyes. I have just purchased the soundtrack from amazon and hoping to purchase this too! It is a great story to be passed on.

Rating: Summary: TITANIC sails once more . . . Review: The Complete Book of the Musical TITANIC by Peter Stone and Maury Yeston is an all too rare look behind the scenes of a major broadway musical. For those of us who only very occasionally get to see a broadway show live, this sort of book can give us a way to experience one, at least vicariously. The book consists mostly of the script and lyrics of the show, but first the authors share their views on the subject matter at large, and quite interestingly to me, their particular artistic approach towards making an historic event palpable to each and every viewer sitting in a dark theatre. It is also interesting to note that at the back of the book is a complete listing of the names of the people who perished on the great "ship of dreams". The book is quite generously illustrated with photos of the production. However, many of the photos are a bit marred by the presence of dust and hair particles on them. Surprisingly sloppy workmanship in that department. The layout and design of the book is quite nice, which only seems to accentuate this minor but consistent flaw. All in all, if you are like me and yearn to know what goes on between all those songs you listen to on your original cast recordings, books such as this one are a God-send. I would recommend it to any fans of Titanic, Peter Stone or Maury Yeston.
