Summary: good material, poorly presented
Review: I think this guy has like 100 different copies of what is essentially the same book issued under different titles on Amazon and in bookstores. Maybe hoping for double and triple sales from stupid people? I have what I believe is another copy of the same book called "Shut Up and Smile." Much of the material is rehashed from old newspaper reports, other people's books, etc. Some stories on sad lives of lesser-known models is interesting and not something we've read before. The passage on Halperin trying to be an undercover model is a joke. He's not a great writer and the material isn't as shocking as Halperin thinks it is. But some of it is worth reading.

Summary: Stinker! Don't even touch with someone else's hands
Review: I'd rate this book 0 stars if I could. Don't waste your money! The writing was insipid and poorly organized, and consisted mainly of name-dropping. The so-called 'revelations' about the modeling industry are old news to anyone with an ounce of common sense. Gee, what happens when we take naive young girls with low self-esteem and body image problems away from their parent's influence and all but give them to wealthy dirty old men??? Is anyone surprised?

I read this with a book club that was taken in by the biased reviews posted here. Don't let this happen to you!

Summary: Shocking, stunning and scandalous!
Review: If you want to be a model, read this book and educate yourself. I finished this book in under 24 hours, that is how riveted I was to its content. I was quite disturbed at various points in the book, and unsurprised in others.

I put down this book much more knowledgeable about an industry I am infatuated with. In it I learned how many young girls are lured into being used, abused or even worse. I learned the real motives behind Gisele Bundchen's relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio; I learned Naomi Campbell's uphill struggle to becomiing the first black supermodel and her continuing battle with herself.

This is a very important book.

Summary: Every Fashion Fan should read
Review: Is there any industry that treats its employees like the fashion industry? After reading Bad and Beautiful, I don't think such a thing exists. The fashion industry is obviously plagued by many problems. This book deals with it all. I liked the part about the author interviewing models undercover. Aside from being well written, this book is well balanced. I urge all fashion fans to read this book.

Summary: It's About Time!!
Review: It's about time someone exposes the fashion industry for what it really is...It's about time someone helps young models avoid being drugged and raped...It's about time we get something that's not a piece of propaganda put out by the people in the fashion industry...It's about time someone went unercover to find out what really goes on in this industry...It's about time I finish reading this book so that I can give it to my friend's daughter who dreams every day of becoming a model.

Summary: Thundering, Earthquake account of the modeling business
Review: Mr. Halperin deserves to win an award for his unercover account of the model business. The way he posed undercover to get the story behind the story of models is brilliant. From the time I started reading this tell all account, I could not put it down. Anyone interested in fashion should read this book immediately! Trust me, I worked in the industry for 22 years. Finally, someone had the courage to write about what really happens behind the scenes. Bravo!

The book is full of highly informative case histories, and contains clear and understandable info on what it takes to survive in this gruelling business.
