Rating: Summary: what a great book! Review: I just bought this book yesterday and couldn't put it down. It was so interesting. You will be very happy you read this book. The photos were good, they weren't the same pictures we have seen in the past. almost like they came out of Lucie Arnaz's family album. I was crying when I read how a devoted daughter Lucie was to her dying father. I can relate. I too am a devoted daughter to my parents. how sad, to read that Lucy was never really a happy person. Could have fooled us on TV...Well, I guess that's why they are called actors.. please read if you love Lucy and Desi...you will learn alot. thanks Lena
Rating: Summary: I JUST LOVE ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH LUCILLE BALL, Review: I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IF THIS BOOK TALKS ABOUT LUCILLE AND DESI ARNAZ IT'S GOING TO BE A HECK OF A BOOK. ANYWAY LUCILLE ROCKS SO DON'T TELL ME THIS BOOK WON'T ROCK ETHIER HUH? NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT WHY WOULD YOU GO ONLINE IF YOU WEREN'T INTERESTED IN THIS BOOK, OR ANY OTHER BOOKS ABOUT HER.
Rating: Summary: THE BOOK Review: I loooooooooved this book. I am a 13 yr. old die-hard Lucy fan and have read many many books on the Lucille/Desi story. This is one of the best books, although it doesn't say much of Lucille and Desi's childhood. It is a tell all of their ups and downs as stars and as lovers. I certainly recommend this book to anyone, all ages.
Rating: Summary: READ DESILU BOOK Review: I READ BOTH "DESILU" AND "LOVE,LUCY" THEY ARE EXCELLENT BOOKS. WE CANT COMPARE ONE TO THE OTHER BECAUSE LUCY WROTE (LOVE).WELL, SHE HAD ALL THIS INTERVIEWS DONE IN THE 60S. DESILU IS A VERY DEEP LOOK AT THE COMPLEX WORLD OF THE TV INDUSTRY.I HIGHLY RECOMEND BOTH; THEY ARE GREAT READING MATERIAL FOR ANY LUCY FAN.
Rating: Summary: But Riiiiiickkkkyyyyyyyy? Review: I read this book in a total of two hours. It was so good, I just couldn't put it down. For any of those Lucy fans out there who think they know what Lucy and Desi went through they don't know exactly until they have read this book. The author did an excellent job with the facts and should be highly rewarded. I laughed and I cried. And you should too! A Lucy fan, Grace
Rating: Summary: facinating Review: I think this was book was absolutly facinating. It gave an account of everything to the slightest detail. I absolutly loved the book in fact some people in my family would say I was obsessed because I've read it about four times. I loved it the word can't even describe how wonderful it is. if you love lucy and desi then you have got to read this book. You will not be sorry!
Rating: Summary: This Is Really How It Was! Review: I was transfixed by reading the comprehensive and well documented non fiction book DESILU written by acclaimed entertainment journalist Tom Gilbert and Coyne Sanders. These authors did their extensive research and transposed their factual material into an engrossing, extremely well written and fascinating account of how one of the entertainment industry's most famous acting, creative and producing teams- Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz- created the most beloved sitcom in history I LOVE LUCY as well as a television mega-empire in the early days of the industry (long before AMERICAN IDOL and SURVIVOR became the current rage!). The book gives a detailed inside look into the dynamics of their personalities, joys and conflicts. I would recommend DESILU without hesitation to anyone interested in a) the life and career of Lucille Ball b)the life and career of Desi Arnaz c)the early days of television d)the company that created some of the most beloved televsion shows in its time and of all times. An engrossing read!
Rating: Summary: LUCY, DESI and DESILU--The real story!! Review: If you're tired of reading the same old fluff about Lucy and Desi and want a balanced, honest record of their marriage *and* their studio (which never gets its due), this is *THE* book. Well researched and full of honest comments by Lucie Arnaz and lots of Desilu performers and personnel. This is an unflinching but surprisingly loving book. Written by pros. A must for anyone who is a fan not only of the Arnaz team but of their contributions to the industry (there's even some "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible" behind the scenes stuff too!).
Rating: Summary: Their True Life Review: The book "Desilu" is really a heart-breaking book on Lucy and Desi's lives. The authors seems to meditate only on the fallings of these two people and they seem to enjoy the chance to write on someone that had a hard life backstage. It is one thing to tell about their TRUE life but this book is TOO much. I would not recomend this book to anyone especially a Lucy fan. My friend read it and can't get himself to watch the show anymore. If you want to read a book on them, I would instead recomend: "Love Lucy" by Lucille herself (I give that one five plus stars) and/or "I Love Lucy" by Michael McClay (five stars). I have read them both and they are both very nicely writen and I'm sure you will enjoy them.
Rating: Summary: A sad book Review: This book is a sad look on Lucy and Desi's lives. The only thing that the athors are interested in are the sad happenings of these two great people. If you are a Lucy fan, do not read this unless you want to be torn away from Lucy.
