It explains the basics of acting and the acting business in a lively, easy-to-read format (for ages 10 & up), and tells you everything you need to know to get your career off the ground. If you've ever wondered what an actor's life is really like, or if you want to know how to get started in an acting career, this is the book for you.

Here are some of the things you'll learn from "Acting A to Z":

• how to choose the best training • how to contact agents and casting directors • what it's like to audition for a casting director and interview with an agent • how a professional actor promotes himself or herself • how to put together a photo-and-resume marketing package, and other marketing tips • dealing with money as an actor • how to stay safe amid the scams and power-plays that are aimed at actors • tips for coping with rejection, and the ups and downs that every actor faces in his career • tips for coping with difficult people • how to decide whether a professional career is right for you.

Summary: Good introduction
Review: I received this book as a gift. I had already been acting for a while, so some of the subjects I was already aware of. The book is a relatively quick read, but enjoyable. It covers basic things, like headshots, resumes, etc. I was most impressed by a small list of colleges with an excellent performing arts program. It covers a lot of topics, but nothing too thoroughly--like I said, a good beginner's book to open up the world of acting to someone who is unfamiliar with it. If you are looking for an in-depth history, technique, etc., this is not a wise choice. This is a fun book overall, and it definitely covers a lot of material.
