Rating: Summary: A Splendid Guide Review: Knowing that I have a niece who would like to spread her wings & try her luck in Hollywood, I read The Twelve Steps to Becoming an Actor in L.A. & thought that here is a wonderful guide for the flegling actor/actress. It's not as scarey when you have some guidelines to help you along the way. My congratulations to the author for her helpful journey along the show biz road. It's a tough road to hoe, so I've heard, but this book gives you step by step directions towards that goal. The book made me feel more confident about the prospect of conquering the acting field & hopeful for young actors such as my talented niece.
Rating: Summary: Best Book on the Market Review: This book provided me with invaluable information. I've read quite a few books on this topic and "12 Step Plan to Becoming an Actor in LA" is by far the best one I have read. It answers every question as you go through the process. I highly recommend this book to anyone even considering a career in acting. Gabrielle Nash, New York, NY
Rating: Summary: keeping sane Review: While there are many good books out there on breaking into acting, there are few who teach you how to create a balanced life. From taking care of your emotional health - to looking good and having fun - to creating your own success. This book is for anyone who is in acting for the long hall. You need steps to lean on and climb. It is like having a friend in a new city telling you the in's and out's . All and all, the worksheets are awsome. The monthly worksheets keep you on track and the stories keep you inspired. For me it made the difference to not feeling overwhelmed in a city that can be very unkind.A must have, for anyone venturing to LA.
Rating: Summary: astonishingly ridiculous Review: This is a shockingly useless book, with more time spent on where to get good facials and spa treatments, and where to get the best iced coffee drinks, than on anything remotely related to acting. Don't waste your money on this: there are tons of much better books on acting in Los Angeles, including Judy Kerr's "Acting is Everything," Kristi Callan's "Working Actor's Guide," or Eve Brandstein's "The Actor." Please take the time to check those and other books out before you consider buying this one.

Rating: Summary: If only I had known, Review: In the beginning, if only I had known these 12 steps. The time, effort & anguish I could have saved myself. It would have cut off many years of the 27 I struggled to get the part that finally put me on the map. So many things one would not even consider, except they are there in black & white. This is worth a post graduate degree & a sixth star. So start studying. Now we must plan how to have all the hopefuls heading to Hollywood obtain a copy of "12 steps to,,,".
Rating: Summary: I feel like a top dog. Review: A year ago I came to L.A. to make my way. People told me that because of the way I look, I'd never make it. Although I certainly don't have the "Tom Cruise" look, I feel that with a book like this, I can certainly make it - at least as a commercial actor. Before I got Dawn and Dori's book, I found myself just scratching my head, wondering what my next move would be. Now I've got a plan!
Rating: Summary: very helpful Review: I found this book to be very helpful in getting me organized and off in the right direction. You should definately read this book if you want to become an actor!
