Summary: Communication style requires options
Review: An earlier reviewer decries the liberal leanings of this text. A college introductory course introduces options in skills available for human communication. This text provides students exercises that help identify their current communication style, the answers to the questions then invite discovery and awareness. Once the reader is aware, the opportunity to examine the communication framework each individual uses and how new communication skills can be employed can begin. This text provides a wealth of information to the essential process of communication.

Summary: Notice the liberal propaganda sprinkled throughout?
Review: This book has such political propaganda inside! There are things in this book that have NOTHING to do with a legitimate course on communication, such as little mentions about the oppressed making themselves heard to their oppressors, and all of that left-liberal victim theory stuff. Also, there is a whole list of things to say versus what not to say that makes this text more suitable for a course in Orwellian Thought Control. And just what on Earth is heterosexist listening? Listening? The liberal campus texts are now moving from speech to what is inside your head? And then there are nosey and intrusive exercises that ask you to talk about personal mating habits and stuff related to intimate relationships. This is awful! Students who are required, as a mandatory part of any class that uses this politically motivated text, to answer some of the offensive and intrusive questions, should immediately contact the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) by finding their website.
