Summary: Loved it
Review: Being an long time pet lover and pet owner - I found this book to be extremely heartwarming. I am the mother of "Maddie" our one year old yorkie and we looked at the pictures together. Yes, I am crazy but I swear she really looked at the pictures in this book! Wonderful, sweet book for the animal lover! Made me want to load my camera with film and take pictures of all my pets!

Summary: What do dogs REALLY want? Roy Blount tells all!
Review: This is a very funny, very endearing, and very sweet book without being cloying or overly anthrpomorphic. Mercifully, no babytalk, and so will probably appeal somewhat less to the "does lil snookums have to pee-pee?" crowd. Blount clearly loves dogs BECAUSE they're dogs. And the photographs are extraordinary--Valerie Shaff is a wonderfully gifted photographer.

Nevertheless, I was curious as to whether the sentiments expressed in this book are as authentic as they seem, and since my being human prevents me from being able to confirm this with my dogs, I decided to read the book aloud to them. After 4 pages, Wilson dozed off, Shadow left the room to attend to some urgent business involving a fly, and Ranger thoroughly cleaned the bottom of my sneaker and then rolled over onto his back and began yowling at the ceiling fan in a conversational tone. However, when instead of just reading the book to them I elected to SING the text (in a high, screechy, wobbly faux operatic soprano), all three dogs remained riveted to the floor at my feet. So, based on findings from this highly complex scientific experiment, I was able to determine that not only does Roy Blount have an insider's view as to what goes on in dogs' minds, but as an added bonus I have proven that those very thoughts are experienced by dogs as what we humans would dismiss as really bad singing.

Anyway, all four of us really like this book.

Summary: Even children enjoy it!
Review: I borrowed this book and ended up with my own copy. My 6 and 9 year old children latched on to it and it has now become one of their favorite books! It's wonderful; however, there are a couple pages that bring tears to your eyes. I've recommended it to for a fellow "dog person" and have just ordered another copy for her.

Summary: Delightful!
Review: This is a truly delightful book. The pictures are wonderful and expressive on their own. But, add the insightful little poems and the mix will have you alternating between joyfully laughing as you meet the Bulldog with his "Good Stick" and dabbing the corners of your eyes when you encounter the dog who mourns his boy who has gone to college. This is the type of book you end up buying 10 copies of, because once you read it you will have to buy copies as gifts for all your friends, too!

Summary: A humorous picture book; a dog's-eye-view of their world.
Review: I recieved this book as a gift, and what a wonderful gift it was! It's a true delight for any dog lover who has ever tried to imagine the thoughts of a canine companion. This handsome book has a permanent home on my coffee table.

Summary: It absolutely made my heart smile from ear to ear!
Review: I picked up this book in a local bookstore and read it cover to cover without realizing it. I was so absorbed in the beauty of the photos as well as enjoying the word association of each expression. I lost two dogs to old age(they were both 16 years old) in just the last year and this book brought me great joy. The memories of my "babies" flooded back and this little book brought tears to my eyes. Anyone who has ever truly loved a dog will enjoy this book. I'm buying it and keeping it always.

Summary: Bad Dog Book!!! Bad Bad Dog Book!!!
Review: Hysterical - that this benign and boring waste of a tree would get on the New York Times Best Sellers list. Who in their right (or wrong) mind would find this funny reading and/or the photos attractive. Don't waste your money on this trite book. Better to send your money to the SPCA.

Summary: I though it was one of the sweetest books that I have read.
Review: This was such a bittersweet book. The pictures capture the dogs at just the right time, andthe poems with them can make you laugh or cry. This is such a wonderful book, and I recommend that all animal lovers read it.

Summary: For anyone who has ever known and loved a dog .....
Review: Photos that take you from one end of the emotion spectrum to the other ... appropriate poetry and prose that seems to come straight from the dogs' mouth ... curl up with your pooch and share a special moment ... I did! THE perfect gift for anyone who loves (wo)man's best friend.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I particularly loved the doggerel.
Review: The pictures by themselves are truly glorious. The accompanying poetic prose is sublime. To coin a canine equivalent to the cat's pajamas, this book is the dog's whiskers. Glory be to all involved.
