Summary: Some may find it useful.
Review: I am seasoned enough (read old) to be unsurprised by most of the book. But, I also recognize that there are many people--men and women--who remain ignorant about the subject. To those, I would recommend that you read it--knowledge about this subject is very important. I found the last thirty or so pages, providing congratulatory letters, repetitious. For those who would like to join the Movement, you will probably find those same pages reinforcing.

Summary: I expected it to be better
Review: I'm not sure what I was expecting, really, but I guess I expected it to be better than it was. That's not really the book's fault, but rather mine. Some of the sections are great, some boring, and the book as a whole is rather short. I'd say it is worth having on my shelf, but not anything really special.

Review: hands down, this is a fantastic book. personally, i don't have a vagina (being a member of the male gender), but that's no reason why guys like me can't enjoy these fantasic monologues! in my opinion, all men would do well to read this book, and can gain much insight and understanding from it. more power to women! yeah!

Summary: I can't believe...
Review: I can't believe how wonderful, and sad this book was. I'm from a family who told me to love myself and taught me about my body. This book inspired me and made me realize how lucky I am. I am giving a copy to all the important women in my life! Now I just have to make it to a performance.

Summary: Her secret place...
Review: Superb. One of the most important works since Germaine Greer's Lady Love Your (slang word). The vagina and the womb are of such significance, biologically, spiritually and symbolically, that no amount of discussion of the subject is ever enough. Make no mistake, we as a society are still dealing with the legacy of the murder of nine million women during the Inquisition, many of whom were healers and midwives, and the systematic oppression of women (the majority gender on this planet) to the extent that they were denied the right to vote, the right to own property and the right to inherit property from their fathers until 1918. This is a very important study, which presents many human insights into a subject that the patriarchy, as the Enemy of all decent thinking people, has tried to dehumanize. The open discussion of female sexual anatomy, and its psychological component is part of the process of women recovering their true power. A classic, and deservedly so.

Summary: Vagina Monologues
Review: I had heard much about The Vagina Monologue. Guess what? Most of what I "heard" was very different than what I got. People seem to consider this a comical CD, however, I was touched by the "sad" stories that were included. We never stop and think about some of the bad things women have gone through in their lives. After hearing this CD I am more compassionate of others.
This is a CD that should be taken more seriously than it has been. It opens your eyes!

Review: This is an utterly crude monologue. I have seen it performed, read it, and am now writing a rhetorical criticism of it. It is a complete refutation of all that is or every was traditional and modest. It represents liberal progressivism at its worst... societal decay. Some may call it liberating, I find it crude and completely inappropriate for any audience. I only study it so I am better equipped to rebute its content. Completely vulgar; I am disgusted by it.

Summary: To be honest, it deserves 0 stars
Review: I was studying at chapters this weekend when someone suggested this book to me. I've been looking for something decent to read...I was beyond disapointed. I found this book to be sick, disturbing and just plain gross. I consider myself to be a open minded woman, but this book just rubbed me the wrong way. I put the book down when she wrote about asking little girls what they think of their vagina's, and went no further. Perhaps Ms. Ensler would say that someone like me has a hard time exploring my sexually. Far from it. I just feel some things are meant to be private. I feel she went too far with this. I was able to get my money back thank God.

Summary: Eve Ensler is a genius
Review: I was reading this book at a coffeeshop a few weeks ago and some of my male friends started to tease me about reading a book about vaginas. However, pretty soon they were asking to look closer at the Vagina Monologues--- and started reading them! I though that was great. Most people don't want to admit that they are curious about vaginas, but everyone is. There are chapters that make you laugh out loud, and some that make you want to cry.
An outstanding book.
