Summary: A Powerful Visual Record Of A Timeless Film.
Review: Any true cinema aficionado will recognize that Mel Gibson's "The Passion Of The Christ" is a special film precisely becomes it comes straight from the heart which is rare in an age of hollow, commercial filmmaking. Visually the film was a stunning display of craftsmanship in the cinematography, costumes and make-up. This book provides a sort of pictorial souvenior for admirers of Gibson's masterpiece and is also a guide through the film's Biblical roots. After a heartfelt introduction written by Gibson himself expressing his intentions and drive behind the film we are guided through the movie's stages with stunning, sometimes haunting and violent photographs and Biblical verses that clarify where these events are described for the non-Biblical scholar. One of the wonders of Gibson's technique in filming "The Passion" was that he instructed cinematographer Caleb Deschanel to emulate the painter Caravaggio in his lighting, this works to incredible effect, giving us images as startling as a masterful painting. The Biblical verses themselves are a rich tapestry of language and faith, believers will find the selections to be well-placed with the selected images and non-believers will be impressed at how well the visuals and text are assembled. "The Passion of The Christ" is one of the first important movies of the new century and this book captures it with elegance.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: The photography is basically a snapshot of scenes from the movie with a few pages of Bible verses and commentary. One interesting tidbit is that the book contains a photo of a shot that never appeared in the movie. The photo in the book that I'm speaking of has Pilate holding the sign reading "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" after Jesus was scorged.

Summary: More than an accompaniment
Review: I bought this book as a gift for my mother, who has not yet seen the film. I have, and it blew me away. However, I'll confine my remarks to the book: for anyone, and I mean those of us that have seen it & those of us that haven't, these unvarnished images of the sufferings of Christ belong within the reach of everyone who calls himself or herself a Christian. The reason why the film struck millions around the world is that it was the first truthful depiction of the Passion & Crucifixion on film. This book provides a way for those of us who saw it to bring back the emotion we experienced then to study, meditation, and prayer, giving us the time & opportunity to dwell on the images more than is possible when viewing a film.

As for those who have yet to see the film, I'll pass along my mother's reaction to the book. She found the photographs alone to be deeply moving - it was almost as though she didn't even have to see the film to appreciate it (although now that the DVD is out, she intends to).

Obviously, people who hate this book not only hated the movie, but the entire story of Christ in itself.

by Mel Gibson is an amazing book that shows the movie in a very good light. I love it. Every good Christian should buy it and show Hollywood that we care about the son of God.

Summary: Very significant
Review: In the personal thing, the movie made me meditate a lot about Jesus' passion.
In this respect of the book of Mel Gibson, three very distinguished blocks have been able to stand out:

Fondness: Jesus and Mary, their mother.

Pages 24 - 25: Jesus with their mother hugging her and giving him an affectionate kiss after tossing him dilutes when he is rinsed the hands.

Pages 38 -39: Jesus is captured and Mary is able to feel the pain of him under the floor where you he is chained.

Pages 92 - 93: Spectacular contrast, initiate after Mary's memory when Jesus very boy falls when trying to reach the tiers. At once help to their son Jesus to be able to get up when he attempts an effort to lift the heavy cross, in route to the crucifixion.

Suffering: Jesus is punished with lashes.

Pages 60 -61: Beginning of the first lashes.

Page 69: Jesus after the second harrowing lashes. Excellent the biblical appointment of Isaiah 52:14.

Page 83: Jesus after the punishment in route to loading the cross. Excellent view of an imposing Jesus in front of their destination.

Destination: Jesus and their final future.

Page 5: Requesting to God. Excellent the biblical appointment of Matthew 26:39.

Page 13: In spite of the betrayal and the abuse cures the Roman soldier attacked by Pedro. Excellent Luke's biblical appointment 22:51.
Finally, good work of Mel Gibson when publishing the pictures of the movie.
Jesus' life is really interesting and I am getting a personal interest in analyzing all source related to him.
