Rating: Summary: Frequent Questions With Entertaining Answers on Wine Review: Anita La Raia's excellent book on wine, "Wine FAQs: Real Questions-Real Answers," enticed me and held me captive until the end. When I purchased this book, I thought I'd check it out by scanning a couple of chapters and then put it on the shelf and use it as a resource guide to wine. Amazingly, I had read the whole book before I realized it. "Wine FAQs: Real Questions-Real Answers" is that interesting, that informational, and that easy to read. Anita has taught wine classes in Atlanta, GA, for over 24 years, and she has visited some of the greatest wine regions in the world. She brings this information to you in her book. Anita pulled the most frequent questions asked by her students along with her answers and put them into a book for you to enjoy. At heart, Anita is a teacher, and she personalizes the world of wine so that you can take the information to the grocery store or the wine store when purchasing your next bottle of wine. In the book, "Wine FAQs: Real Questions-Real Answers," you will learn that what's in a grape makes the wine, and you will discover interesting information about some of the wine regions of the world, their soil nutrients, and their climates. Anita enlivens this information with juicy little tidbits, such as telling us about Eiswein - which is the German word for ice wine - and it is a sweet wine made from grapes in Germany that have been snowed upon and frozen! Also, you will learn that what's in a wine label makes sense and that wines in Europe have similar counterparts in the USA. You will read about the marriage of food and wine and gain the confidence to know which wines to drink with hamburgers, Mexican food, and sushi (yes, there are wines beyond saki). You will also learn about serving wine, so after you finish reading this book, I suggest you serve yourself a chilled glass of Trockenbeerenauslese or a glass of red Spanish Rioja. And, how can it get any better than this? Anita LaRaia wrote her book in everday language, so reading it was like talking to her in person. If you have any questions about the world of wine and want simple, easy-to-read answers that you can both enjoy and apply, read Anita Laraia's book "Wine FAQs: Real Questions-Real Answers." Anita, thanks for the book. I dub you the First Lady of Wine.
