Some truly amazing and unappetizing recipes (and illustrations to boot!) for cakes that, yes, your mother and or grandma may very well have tried in a desperate attempt to salvage domestic serenity. Nonetheless, a must have for those who are not afraid to put 7-Up into batter or pour boiling water over salt pork to make a cake. Stick to the first two or three recipes, and you can't go wrong.
