Summary: HARDCORE Indian cookery!
Review: I came across this book in a box in my Mom's basement. Little did I know what a terrific impact it would have on my life. Because the layout is simple with no pictures to encourage, good recipes are buried like little precious gems waiting to be discovered. I think the book is easily the most comprehensive, consistent and Indian cookbook I have come across. Of the 10 dishes I know by heart 4 come from this book. HARDCOVER please!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Comprehensive, easy to use, always delicious recipes
Review: I came upon this book 25 years ago and have photocopied it many times for friends and family - thinking it was out of print -- every thing is delicious - all recipes work - from the nan to the lamb to the chutneys - I wish it was available in hardback.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Recommended - this is a wonderful cookbook
Review: I used to borrow this book from my roomate. The recipes are real, basic dishes that Indians eat, with no gimmicks or "spin". I bought other cookbooks, but none had the comprehensive, well-rounded recipes like this one does. So, now I'm buying my own copy. I only wish there could be an update - with pictures and more modern language.
