Betty Goldberg's book can sit right next to Betty Crocker's on my bookshelf !

Summary: A Great Cookbook for Novices
Review: This is a terrific cookbook for people new to Jewish cooking, as well as for anyone who wants to know the history or significance of a dish or is looking for a recipe that tastes "just like Mom's." There aren't any fancy recipes or bizarre ingredients here--just good, traditional Jewish homecooking. I have a lot of Jewish cookbooks, but this is the one I always end up turning to. It's easy to find just the sort of recipe you need, and you'll love the explanations, backgrounds and variations of recipes like kugels, latkes, blintzes, knishes, kreplach, knaidlach, briskets and, of course, chicken soup.
