Summary: Laura Pipkin writes a savory cookbook!
Review: As you read through this unique and intriguing cookbook, you can't help but picture the scene in the kitchen as the cooks of Camp Waldemar prepare these wonderful gourmet meals for many young girls on a hot summer day. The anecdotes that accompany the recipies, along with the descriptions of the meals, invite you right into the life of the Camp and give this cookbook a lovely narrative quality. I found myself reading it on the subways of New York City to and from work as if it were a novel.

Laura's careful and detailed recipies make each of them easy and fun to cook. The King Ranch Chicken and Cherry Squares are a hit with my 2 year old!! Thank you Laura!

Summary: Camp tastes at home with you
Review: For any of those of us that had the pleasure of having the camp experience as part of our childhood, this is a great book. Even if you didn't go to Waldemar, (like me- I went to Kickapoo) that Texas hillcountry feeling comes through the pages of this book and onto your table. It is a great gift for you or a friend, since it is unique and welcome addition to my kitchen. It is also a great way to share those commonalities with your kids so they will have the same memories as you.

Summary: Charming and delicious
Review: What a treasure! The recipes are easy to follow and the results are fabulous. I especially like the pork tenderloin and potato dishes. And I agree with one reviewer on the cherry tart - to die for!
