Rating: Summary: An Excellent Collection of Southern Recipes Review: I grew up in Mobile, Alabama in a family of great cooks. I live in Washington, DC and often yearn for the foods we had growing up. Every time I have wanted to find a recipe for something my grandmother would have fixed, "Cooking for the Family" has had it in a very easy to locate place, with easy to follow directions. This is one cookbook that will always stay close to my stove!

Rating: Summary: Tips On How To Preserve Your Family's Heritage Review: This book has turned out to be a treat in more ways than one. Penny Pounds' "Cooking for the Family" gave me the great idea that I could do what she did. Her book is an excellent guide to putting together the family's heritage starting with food. Using "Cooking for the Family" as a guide, I found it essy to get my project started and to do the same thing for my family. I don't think I would have done this, had I not come across this book. I recommend it to people who like to cook [and eat!], like nostalgia [she has pictures from the 1950s] and to people who are interested in saving their own family's heritage. I have tried some of the recipes and they came out real good. All in all, this book is a winner. And now, my fmaily's history will go on for a few more genrations, since I picked up Penny's big idea. I followed her book and made my own. Thanks to the author for something new and creative in the way of cookbooks.
