Review: Great tasting recipes using normal ingredients. And quick to prepare

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: just ok
Review: This book is easy to read and has a few good recipes. However, a tofu-lover will have a greater appreciation for it than others. . .

Summary: Great Vegan Cookbook
Review: This small, humor-laden vegan cookbook has many excellent recipes, and the Mushroom Stroganoff completely surprised some non-vegetarian friends that I had over to dinner one night. They wondered aloud how I, as a vegetarian, could eat something that obviously had lots of meat and dairy in it, and were surprised to hear it had neither. They also thought I must have spent a lot of time on it, but (thanks to pre-sliced mushrooms at Whole Foods) it only took 15 minutes to prepare. I have had several requests for this recipe every time I make it.

At first I was skeptical that the dairyless sour cream could taste anything like the real thing. I was pleasantly surprised! I'm not a vegan, but now it's the only kind of "sour cream" I'll eat. Very good with Mexican food.

The only recipe I could not make successfully was the blueberry coffee cake. I followed the directions to the letter, but ended up throwing the whole thing out. I may try again someday.

Delia and Polly sound like a couple of nuts. I like that in my friends, and hope to meet them someday.

Enjoy the recipes!
