Rating: Summary: Colorful book Review: I am not a novice baker. I got this book at a very cheap price and shrink wrapped up. So, even when I began reading the recipes on this book, I started to wonder if these recipes has been tested and proven successful before. Coz, in certain recipes, the ingredients ratio seems to be out of proportion. Especially sugar. I was imagining that those bakes of cakes may turn out to be very sweet. I when I tried on the recipes in this book, it did not turn out well. It appears to have quite a bit of useful extra in presenting the ingredients to readers, i.e. in different measurements standards. But the measurements are not exactly equivalent to each other.. For instance, in a muffin recipe, they recommended 250ml of milk or 1 cup. But infact there is a huge difference 50ml difference, as one cup should be quite close to 200ml only... Exactness in ingredients is quite important in baking, I thought, though I might be wrong.
Rating: Summary: Pure Inspiration! Review: No one is more fascinated by an intricately decorated cake, than children. No matter what the occasion, they adore an imaginative display of icing and candy. Why else would anyone want to make a "Spiders' Web Cake" for Halloween, "A Fairy tale Castle Cake" for a birthday, or a "Sand Castle Cake" in the summer? Brides will also love the "Basket Weave Wedding Cake." There is also an adorable "Teddy Bear Christening Cake." Even if you never plan to make any of these cakes, the pictures are pure inspiration. If you just want to make a simple batch of cookies, a banana bread, or a whole wheat bread, those recipes are here as well. Each of the recipes are fully illustrated and if you love baking....beware! The "Marzipan Roses" and "Tia Maria Gateau" will soon seduce you and if you buy this book and don't bake anything.......all I can say is: "This makes a great coffee table book."
