Rating: Summary: Very Clever! Review: I listen to Rush and this book is incredible! The author has marketed to his audience well but its also obvious that he is a longtime listener. The book is simply too detailed to not be. Inspired by Rush, Britt Gillette set out to "create his own job" by fusing his passions: Rush Limbaugh and creative writing. Thus, The Dittohead's Guide To Adult Beverages is born. A book of adult beverage recipes for fans of the show. All of them are legitimate adult beverage recipes and each has an explanation of why it's named what it is and what the name means. Overall, this is really clever stuff and if Rush gets to talking about it it will definitely become a best seller. The names by themself are funny. Global Warming Cider, Grape Gorbasm, Gray-Out Davis, Hanoi Jane, Nikita Dean, Open Line Friday Fizz, Puff The Magic Daschle, [R]nold Schwarzeneger, Uglo-American Mist are just a few. Fans of Rush will love this. People who don't listen to him won't be able to make sense of it. That's the only way I wouldn't recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A gem of a read Review: I've read a lot of books in my day and this one is one of the funniest! Fans of The Rush Limbaugh Show will love to delve into this masterpiece of political humor which utilizes all the essentials from the Limbaugh Lexicon. One also must appreciate the author's pursuit of his passion in creating this book and his 'own job'. The Dittohead Guide To Adult Beverages is living proof of the positive influence Rush Limbaugh is having on America. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: A gem of a read Review: On the one hand this book is funny for reason that it really perpetuates the idea of a 'Dittohead'. I understand a dittohead as someone who repeats what Limbaugh says, which is all right, after all people's oppinions often coincide and sometimes it is just convienent for people to take someone else's word for it. Who has time to think for themselves, why not just parade a lot of unresearched opinions like their gospel? Everyone knows that styrofoam is biodegradable while paper is not (Rush '91). Another fact that is that "there is no conclusive proof that nicotine is addictive" (Rush '94). Any true card carrying dittohead will tell you that both these statements are correct*.Well about the book, I suppose that if I were conditioned to believe everything Rush had to say I'd find it hilarious, but obviously I wasn't. Instead I found it mildly funny, a feeling that was, while no where near as strong, similar to the chuckles I get from watching a good dark comedy, Dr. Strangelove comes to mind. I just laugh at the utter incompatance of what is in this book, I mean the 'Long-Haired, Maggot-Infested, Dope-Smoking Peace Pansy', why even put a label on those people, why not just kill them all as Coulter suggests? There could be a public execution, it would be a good way to pacify the public, since instilling a constant sense of fear can sometimes get boring. If your a conservitive and you need a laugh then this book is doubleplusgood. If your a liberal and you want a slight chuckle then read this book, but do so without buying it. Its not long so maybe you can read it at a book store or library and put it back on the shelf. However, I'd recomend doing what I did and going to Britt Gillette's website and reading. Whatever you liberals do though, don't put money into this guy's pocket, it is against 'the cause'. Before I leave, I must say that I do like the language it was written in and I enjoyed the wit even if I didn't agree with any of it. Well I guess I'm off to have the Hannity Hannitizer *If Rush ever did rectify these statement then I wasn't aware and would like to appologize to all dittoheads for using those examples, but if he didn't then forget about this endnote.
Rating: Summary: Funny IF You Like Sesame Street Review: Simplistic Third-Grade level writting. Based on previous reviews I was expecting more, but they must have been written by friends and family. This was a big waste of my time.
Rating: Summary: Ha, ha, ha! Review: This book is great! It's so funny (although I wouldn't advise non-Rush listeners to buy it - most of the humor is related to show). All the classic Limbaugh words and phrases like 'feminazi', 'uglo-american', 'puff daschle', 'Algore', 'count taxula', etc. are transformed into 'adult beverage' recipes with humorous blurbs to describe how they are made. This is so original, I wish I thought it up! If you need a gift for the dittohead who has everything, then this is it.
