Review: I purchased this book on a whim when I first began learning about wine (almost 5 years ago)and started a women's winetasting club. I've gotten into more in-depth books to learn more about wine, but I repeatedly refer back to this one. This is a great book if you are just starting to learn about wine and want to know about major grapes, wine regions and basic wine principles. I really like the side notes which tell about the grape origins, where it is grown, and tasting notes. You even get little artist sketches in the sidenotes depicting the flavors you can expect from the wine. I use this book regularly for my winetasting club. Our members have a variety of experience levels - we don't need all the nitty-gritty detail that is so common in many books. The pictures are nice and include pictures of the grapes. I like that because I like to visualize the grapes on the vine as I learn about the different varietals. This is not a book for the typical "wine snob", but it is great for the casual drinker that wants to learn a little more. This book is a good value!
