Rating: Summary: Every recipe works the first time! Review: I have owned this book since it was first published, and it has never failed me. Every bread, cookie, cake, and muffin recipe works the first time and every time! At this point, I think I have made everything in it at least once, and now I know if I ever have to contribute to a potluck or party, I can count on the Complete Book of Baking! It is worth the investment!
Rating: Summary: The Best Ever!!! Review: The name fits very well! The book contains a large variety of breads, scones, cakes, cheesecakes, pies, puddings, and much more. It includes definitions of baking terms and ingredients, metric information, and useful tips scattered throughout the book. The recipes are clear, easy to follow, and the measurements are accurate. Also, some of the recipes are provided with making ahead instructions.The book appeals with its beautiful photography. Any recipe without a picture does not really need one, either because it is very basic, or because its finishing is similar to another illustrated recipe. Moreover, some pictures illustrate the method of a recipe, such as dough shaping, or cake glazing. I got complements for all the recipes I tried, including Texas Sheet Cake, Chocolate-Marshmallow Cake, Amazing Banana-Nut Roll, Peanut Butter- Chocolate Ripple Cheese cake, Fudge Brownies, and Apple-Walnut Cake with Caramel Sauce.
