Review: This beautifully arranged book combines traditional German-American recipes with rich photographs illustrating theAmish lifestyle. It makes an interesting coffee table book, although you will definitely want to use it in the kitchen too. The uncomplicated recipes range from soups, like Rich Brown Soup, through hearty pot roasts and other main dishes, to cakes and desserts: Shoo-Fly Pie, Apple Strudel, and Sweet Yeast Biscuits... Don't expect to find "all natural" health cooking. The recipes call for ordinary ingredients and include sugar, butter, meat and the like.
