Rating: Summary: A Well worn treasure... Review: This book has been a well worn treasure in my library for several years. I stumbled across it quite by accident and it has remained my favorite cookbook ever since. It was the title "With a Jug of Wine" that first caught my attention but forget about the wine. Originally published in 1949, this book has all the classic recipes from around the world and as close to the original authentic versions that you will find anywhere. I first discovered Boeuf Burgandy and Jambalaya from this book but it dosent matter whether ot not you want to prepare a classic such as Spaghetti and meatballs or Cassoulet or something more exotic like Iced chicken and curry soup, this book will serve you well. Mr Wood also sprinkles a generous amount of personal anecdotes throughout the book to give you the feel of being right in his kitchen with him. It is unfortunately out of print now but if you look hard enough you can still find it.
