Review: This book is more than a cook book. It's full of charming back- to-the-past family stories, poetry and of course recipes that focus more on fall and Thanksgiving. Fall treats such as Baked German Pancake with Apple Topping, Southern Sweet Potato Pie, Pumpkin Nutbread, Potato Refrigerator Rolls, Cranberry Tea and Ginger Beer are offered. While the emphasis is on sweet treats, there are some yummy chicken, breakfast and soup recipes as well.The recipes are well explained and not fancy. A beginning cook, particularly one that wants to impress the "old folks" this Thanksgiving would benefit from this book. I enjoyed it.
