Rating: Summary: giving honor to the Goddess Review: i have been a practioner of the craft for over fifty years and never have i seen in print for all the fear mongers to see, such a clear and precise outline of the old faith. from the telling of the history to the observation of the celebrations of the earths seasons. from the loving descriptions of our rede to harm none, to the simple foods and gatherings. these two old souls have told the world that would comdem us all that we do not turn people into toads nor do we suck the life force from children. we honor our children and our elderly we care for and celebrate our animals. and we are as religious if not more so than many of the pius who comdem us. thank you for this lovely book i purchased a copy for several friends. i recommend this book as the needed addition to every kitchen wiccan or not. i was disturbed by the editorial review written on amazon, calling a witches cookbook as disturbing for some. it was as if we needed to be excused and so called good people needed to be warned, this is the 21st century is it not? time perhaps to stop comdeming us? after all we WERE HERE FIRST AND WE ARE NOT CONDEMING THOSE WHO DO NOT HONOR THE gODDESS, BLESSED BE ALL
Rating: Summary: ditto on banishing the veal Review: I just got the book and probably wouldn't have been so eager to buy it had I known there was a veal recipe included. The book has lots of charm but the veal recipe disturbs me. Wiccans follow the tenet of "harm none", which means animals too. I will enjoy tryng many recipes in this book but can't understand why two Wiccan authors would include the veal recipe -is it possible they don't know the horrible abuse the calves endure? I have always said that as Wiccans grow in number in this country, surely we can get something done about animal abuse. (Christians should be working on it too.) I do like the lovely cover and design of the book. I also like the spells and ideas on observance of the holidays. Lots of these ideas will work for anyone - Wiccan or not.

Rating: Summary: Try Banishing Veal Stew Instead of Vanishing Veal Stew Review: I really like this beautiful book very much. It has so many great recipes, very interesting lore and inspirational ritual ideas. It looks beautiful. It is printed on quality paper. It has been well researched and it is a big help in planning Sabbat feasts. I am troubled by the inclusion of the recipe for Vanishing Veal Stew, however. I live just a short distance away from a major veal supplier and slaughterhouse that actually invented a most cruel and hideous method of raising veal calves that has become the industry standard. I'm not a vegetarian though I should be. The hellish life that veal calves live is just about the worst imaginable and is arguably the worst of any "food" animal. I take the Wiccan Rede seriously as I'm sure the authors do, and I strive to come closer to it every day with mixed success. In light of how miserably these baby animals live their short lives I don't think a recipe using their flesh should be included in any book that has "Wicca" in the title.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK: USE IT!!! Review: Jamie has been exchanging e-mails with me for the past month, and I have recieved a copy of her book. Although I am just starting out as a Wiccan, I think that this book will help me greatly in planning for each of the 10 sabbats. I am new to the path, and have been desperately been searching for books on the craft, and this book helped me greatly. Thanks Jamie, once again, for helping out.
Rating: Summary: the wicca cook book Review: this book is packed full of recipes, folklore and rituals tried and tested, you would be at a loss not to have it in your kitchen for everyday use for the wiccan or just as a valued extra for your kitchen book shelf. an excellent buy.
Rating: Summary: A Must Have for Pagans! Review: This book made me drool from the very first recipe! I have used many of the recipes for our festivals as well as simply enjoying them anytime! It is obvious that Jamie and Tara have researched this extremely well, took their time and added a special love that authors should always have for their work. Well done Jamie and Tara! Bon Apetit!
Rating: Summary: You don't have to be into Wicca to enjoy this Review: You don't have to be into Wicca to enjoy this book. I enjoy cookbooks and it is hard to find many that have good recipes that are easy to fix. I don't follow Wicca or practice it, but I loved this cookbook. The recipes are comfort food style recipes that are generally easy to make. They have covered everything in this book from Bread to Dessert. I love the bread recipes and the basic stuffing recipe is easy and delicious. Just don't avoid this book because it is Wiccan, if you do you are missing a gem of a cookbook. The history and lore and interesting reading, but it's the recipes that are wonderful and savory. What I like most is that this book has recipes that are good quality without being pages and pages of ingredients and recipes. Many of them are basics that you can use in a variety of different ways. This is my favorite cookbook. My only complaint is that it isn't longer, but that's not really a complaint at all:)
