Summary: If you have to buy only......
Review: if you have to buy only 3 cookbooks this should be one of them. Need I say More. My own copy fell apart (1945 edition) was passed down to my. Now I want a replacement.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: 1951:This was my mother's first cookbook after she married .
Review: This is a fabulous cookbook! I have made many of the recipes and they always come out as they are supposed to come out. Very yummy, and what I like best is that it goes way back and has ties to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the United States. (Although it is not a kosher book).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best all around cookbook EVER
Review: This was my first cookbook forty years ago...it is now frayed, cover gone, corners dog-eared, but the "meat" of the book still in tact. WE STILL USE IT! Now my daughter is 20 and out on her own...so what better gift than her own personal copy! I keep telling her anyone can cook a good meal from this book...it even tells you how to boil water, make coffee. It walks you through making sandwiches to serving a gormet meal. How many cookbooks can bost of that?!!!
