Summary: Essential Cookbook for any Cook's Library
Review: I borrowed this cookbook from my Dad 6 years ago, for a doughnut recipe. I haven't yet returned it because I use it each & every week for something! This is the best basic cookbook in or out of print. The chicken enchilada recipe--better than any restaurant--in this edition is NOT in any of the new editions, nor by search on the BHG website. Classic recipes--chicken pot pie, homemade mac & cheese (better than Martha's), pictorial instructions for pie crust techniques, and super-yummy caramel corn.

Summary: Good Recipes but The Book Fell Apart!
Review: This is a good cookbook. My mother had an older edition of this book and I basically grew up on a lot of the recipes including delicious, scrumptious recipes for Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and Strawberry Shortcake. This edition is good and has some tasty recipes and the only drawback is that the book fell apart and is being held together by rubber bands but I love the recipes in this book and I would buy a new one to replace it but hopefully they have a hardcover version and maybe that will be sturdier then this softcover book.

Summary: The best standard reference cookbook out there
Review: This was the first cook book I owned, and was given to me when I was 10. I used the quick and easy recipes learning to cook, and it is still my favorite place to look, the easiest place to find standard good home cooking recipes. It has a superb listing of basic necessities, and several very nice "playing in the kitchen all day" recipes - like moussaka/pastitsio, spiced slices cookies, candy window cut-out cookies, and many more. I recommed this to cooks of all ages, whether they like to cook or not.
