Rating: Summary: Busy Life - Eating well Review: Being the busy Sicilian that I am, I don't have time to fiddle with recipes, figure this and that out. I need immediate imformation that guides me to the perfect meal, quick and easy. Mr. Piccolo's book is also a vital guide to those romantic evenings when a delicious and eloquent meal is necessary with that someone special. "Timing is Everything" really hit the spot with me!
Rating: Summary: information reference book Review: Extremely useful as a reference book, and is not cluttered with recipes. Really does have an enormous amount of useful information very easily accessed. Both my daughters-in-law have swiped my copies, so I'm on my third!

Rating: Summary: Best cooking guide I've ever had Review: Full disclosure: the author is a friend of a friend and she asked me if I'd write a review. I said I'd go to Barnes and Noble and look at the book and MAYBE write something if I liked it. Well, no doubt about it, I loved it! And so here is my review: This is one great cooking guide. It is all here --how long to cook anything you can think of; how to store things and how long they will keep; cuts of meat, and many other pieces of information every cook needs. The best thing about the book is the organization: it is clear, simple to understand, and it's very easy to find answers to all your questions instantly. You can go out and purchase whatever looks great at the market, come home, look it up and cook it. Jack gives you different ways and the time it takes, and simple suggestions for preparation. This book is for simple cooking of good fresh food to make dinner easily and quickly. But it is also a guide for a seasoned cook to use when choosing a recipe because it tells you how long to cook an item no matter what sauces, or herbs you add. I've been cooking for 40 years, and I've still learned a lot from this book.I wish I'd had it when I started!

Rating: Summary: Rave review Review: I like to cook, but I find I do not have much time or devote too much time to cooking, therefore I end up eating the wrong foods. This book, Timing Is Everything, enables me to eat well. I can go to the grocery store, pick up what I'm in the mood for and look in the book for simple instructions and how long to cook any item. I don't need to wade through recipe books in order to cook a meal of meat and vegetables. I LOVE THIS BOOK. Thank you, Mr. Piccolo.
Rating: Summary: What a great idea for a cookbook Review: This is a great idea for a cookbook because it recaptures, at least while we are cooking dinner, what modern life steals from the rest of our day: time. By saving me from spending too many minutes cooking my pasta, I am not just getting better dinner but I can play a bit longer with my 10 year old. Thank you Mr. Piccolo!
Rating: Summary: Now and Forever Review: This is not a review of "Cats", but now and foreever is the position this book will have in my kitchen library. Cooking is my hobby. I don't cook every day for my family. I prefer to have two or three couples over for a great meal, rather than eat in a restaurant. Most of the time I intuit recipes half remembered from my childhood or from a great dining experience. Discerning how long a certain cut of meat should cook, or how much time I should allow for potatoes or carrots to be sauteed, boiled or steamed so that they come out at the same time as the main dish is a problem when you cook the way I do. Up to now, I have had to wade through cookbooks looking for similar recipes or rely on their dreaded meat temperature cooking chart. I have found that cookbooks are all over the lot! One cookbook's medium roast beef temperature is another book's well done. One book will tell you to boil potatoes for x minutes for mashing, another one will say y minutes, and neither will tell you wether you are boiling the potatoes whole, halved, or quartered. Timing is Everything solves that problem. It is painstakingly accurate, well organized, and seems to anticipate my questions as I am formulating them. It is basic. It is informative. It is a permanent fixture in my kitchen library, and will be until I stop eating, which is as close to forever as I can get.

Rating: Summary: The most incredible cooking book ever!!! Review: Whether your friends love to cook or hate to cook, they'll love this book. They'll no longer have to inspect the outside of a steak, hoping to devine the done-ness on the inside. They'll no longer have to serve mushy pasta.Or melted vegetables."Timing is Everything" really does solve the problem of how long to cook anything you cook. Mine was given to me as a birthday gift, and it's dawned on me that it would make a great Christmas gift too. I've never written a review before, but I'm very grateful for this book, and I thought I should take the time to say so.
