Summary: Recipes Taste Great and Work!
Review: I am a personal caterer, which means I cook in clients' homes, enough for 2 weeks or a month, and then package the entrees in the refrigerator or freezer. This cookbook is one of the staples of my trade. I highly recommend buying it and trying the jambalaya and Mustard Pork Tenderloin.

Review: I wouldn't have bothered writing a review but after I saw the one that said the person had bought the first book, written years ago and didn't like it, I had to respond. Why is there a review of a book that is different from the one that is now available? That's dirty pool.
I have both the original book and the current book and they are entirely different.
The idea of cooking ahead and refrigerating or freezing is excellent. But more important, the food is delicious.
If you were being fair you would remove that Nov, 2003 review. Sounds like someone who has his or her nose out of joint

Summary: the new elegant but easy
Review: I've found the recipes here generally simple and easy to make ahead. Mrs. Burros is very clear in her instructions (although I had some problems with a chocolate roll)and the taste combinations are very good. As this book is an update of her original there are a number of amusing asides on changes in food ingredients and cooking styles between the two editions. Not quite a "must-have" but useful.

Review: Would buy the new edition in paper back. I personally don't need any more hard back cook books, they take up up too much space, epecially at that price.
