Summary: Wonderful Book for Veggie Teen
Review: I became a Vegetarian about 6 months ago and have recieved no help from family. I got this book as a gift from my wonderful boyfriend and I love it! It is so easy to understand and the recipes are quick and simple, which is great for a busy student. There are recipes in here that I love and are so easy but that I would have never thought of otherwise. Everything in here is also very nutricious. Most meals are lower in calories (under 350) and contain nutricious ingredients that are easily found in your local supremarket. A lot of the ingredients my family already uses, which makes it great for split veggie/non-veggie households. Overall this is a wonderful book that I would recommend to any vegetarian, new or otherwise.

Summary: Typical Betty Crocker assembles convenience foods fare
Review: I got this as a gift, so one consolation is I didn't pay for it. Most of the recipes here call for processed "convenience" foods and frozen vegetables. If you are going vegetarian, hate to cook, and not worried about health concerns or flavor for that matter, by all means, this is the book for you. However, if you are looking for vegetarian recipes that are quick, healthy, and calling for fresh foods, I would highly recommend "Moosewood Cooks at Home".

Summary: Can't wait to try the recipes!!!
Review: I just got this book in the mail today, and can't wait to start using it! The recipes are very clear, easy to understand, and have ingredients that are either easy to find OR can be substituted with something else. I have been a vegetarian for 3 years, but my husband is still very much a meat kinda guy. Trying to cook something that we'll both enjoy has been a real challenge for me and I usually dread grocery day, but with this cookbook there is HOPE!

A lot of variety, color photographs on quite a few of the pages, and suggestions on how to modify recipes for non-vegetarians will help those who are new to vegetarian cooking OR (like me) are not sure how to make meatless dishes that my spouse will like. And best of all, most of the recipes have a relatively quick preparation time! Yay!

I rate this 4 stars instead of 5 because most of the recipes are very high in sodium. For those with heart problems, you'll definitely need to modify the recipes accordingly. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a simple, no-fuss approach to tasty vegetarian cooking.

Summary: Can't wait to try the recipes!!!
Review: I love this cookbook. Every recipe I've made has been a huge hit. One thing I like is that many of the ingredients are store bought, so not everything is homemade. For me, this saves a lot of time, but you still can throw a good meal together. There are several recipes that I use every week. The recipes are fairly simple and don't very long to prepare. It is easily a beginner book, but everyone can enjoy using this book. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Best Vegetarian Cookbook I Own!!!
Review: I've been a vegetarian for 6 years now and this was my first vegetarian cookbook that I bought, and it's still my favorite.

These recipes are quick and easy to make (for the majority anyway) with ingredients that are readily available in any grocery store (lots of veg. cookbooks have ingredients that are so obscure that I can never find them). There are many, many great tasting recipes in this book- even my non-vegetarian friends and family love many of the recipes in this book. And several of them include instruction for adding fish or chicken for those who still would like to include those in their diet.

It's a great buy, and you'll enjoy it for years to come!

Summary: Wonderful recipes with common ingredients!
Review: I've been looking to cut back on the amount of meat my family eats, with the added complication that my husband is a died-in-the-wool meat and potatoes man who is allergic to beans and soy. I've acquired a sizeable collection of vegetarian cookbooks, and while I've found recipes that we like and that my husband isn't allergic to in most of them, this is the cookbook I turn to again and again. The recipes here are easy to cook and feature ingredients that are found in any grocery store. The first time I flipped through this book, I was delighted to realize that I had the ingredients for several of the recipes already sitting on my pantry and refrigerator shelves! This isn't vegetarian "gourmet" fare, but the recipes are tasty and filling and easy to prepare. Serious vegetarians might scoff at this book, but I would definitely recommend it for "occasional vegetarians" or for those who are very new to, and perhaps intimidated by, the idea of vegetarian cooking!

Summary: finally a cookbook for the ordinary person
Review: There are two kinds of cook books, the kind for enthusiasts that really enjoy gourmet cooking and the kind like me,a busy person who wants to eat healthy but does not want to search in a small southern town for exotic ingredients and spend alot of time in the kitchen. When I became a vegetarian many of the cookbooks I saw were difficult. I went to betty crocker in desperation because the first cook book I had as an adult was a basic betty crocker that told you everything from bisquits to big meals in easy to understand terms. This book is the same way. as I looked thru the book, none of the recipes were intimidating to me,the food is great and many of the things needed were already in my pantry. Thanks Betty, you came through again!
