Summary: "An Invitation..." helps augment the White House Tour
Review: If you have been one of the 6000 people a day to traipse through the several rooms of the East Wing open to the public, you probably didn't have a completely satisfactory experience - especially if you got up at 4:00 in the morning to get tickets for the 15 minutes it takes to shuffle through the tour.

You can take longer, of course... but if battling hundreds of other tourists like your self for a vaunted position in the doorway of the Vermiel Room to see a distant view of china is not quite your bag, it's my humble opinion that you'll enjoy this book.

I reviewed it after having been on the tour recently and found this book to be an outstanding asset.

Summary: Not Worth Buying
Review: If you want to look at the pictures, get a copy in the library or thumb through it at the book store. Your money can be spent more wisely on other books. The reading gets worse rather then better. Go to Washington and see the Whitehouse for yourself. This book can not replace the experience!

Summary: Wonderful Photos (Except for the Cover)
Review: This book has some delightful photographs of various White House rooms, furniture, and memorabilia. The text is fairly limited and the photos of the author are (thankfully) kept to a minimum. Overall this is a very enjoyable book and one I can recommend to anyone interested in the White House. As for the invitation, I wonder if the Girl in the Blue Dress received one of these...

Summary: You feel as if you're really there
Review: This book is extraordinary! It's only still pictures and text, but you feel as if you're really at all those parties and ceremonies, and you get a bit more of a feeling about what the Clintons are like, though it's not that much about them. The book lets you see firsthand how important it is for a President and his wife to be very good at social occasions and decorating. As other viewers have remarked, the photographs are stunning.
