Rating: Summary: FAB Food Review: - Most of the meals I cook are solo meals. The recipes in this book are mainly geared for four, but they're easily broken down. - I'm a fish-eating vegetarian. Despite my diet, I found many useful recipes. Also, many of the meat & poultry dishes can easily be converted. - I'm not, nor have I ever been, a Weight Watchers follower. I have, however, been morbidly obese (aka REALLY FAT). I lost over 115 lb & have kept it off for over 4 years. No medical aids, fad diets... just water, "diet" & exercise (I'm too passionate to elaborate. I'd write a book if I tried. Just know that you CAN lose weight, as long as you aren't in a rush (the turtle won the race!) Make slow changes & you'll succeed. Time is key). ...Getting back on my original track... I look for books that include nutritional breakdowns of their recipes. This book does that. What compelled me to add my two cents was my success with their pizza dough recipe. Personally, I have the hardest time with bread (and bread-like) recipes. This one worked to perfection. Though it is simple & requires few ingredients, it is still pretty involved, but it's 100% worth it. Plus, the nutritional numbers for it are very good. It makes 4 freezable servings so I can use one & freeze the other 3. In the end, I not only had a (cheap) wonderful, perfectly sized meal, I was also exhilarated by having made it myself. Additionally, on the book as a whole, the photos are quite nice & the instructions are very good, & generally easy. Plus, they throw in a lot of interesting info regarding the recipes, ingredients, regions.... At the price Amazon has it at, this book is MORE than worth it! Recipes range from Italian, Asian, Lebanese, Southern, New England... you really can't go wrong, whatever your skill and/or flavor. And all the recipes are good for you! What more is there?
Rating: Summary: I nearly didn't buy this book... Review: ... due to the negative reviews posted here (the recipes are too complicated, the ingredients too hard to find, etc). But I'm glad I did, because everything we have tried has turned out really well. Last night we had the "Seared Salmon with a Moroccan Spice Crust" for dinner - brilliant! Then there's the "Chocolate Fudge Cookies", with only 2 points (2 grams of fat and 91 calories) per serve - yummy! And there are many more recipes I can't wait to try. Sure, the recipes may be slightly more time-consuming to prepare, but if you love good food and trying new dishes, they're worth it!
Rating: Summary: excellent support Review: As a new member of Weight Watchers, I was looking for something to use that would support my weight loss efforts. This book is an excellent choice. Each recipe is presented in a very easy-to-understand format. In addition, each recipe offers calorie info, fat, sodium, carbohydrate, protein and calcium info per serving. The Point amounts are clearly stated for each recipe which makes it so easy to keep track of on the plan. The recipes are fresh and new; things like Spicy Asian Grilled Shrimp and Broccoli with Orange Sesame Sauce are delicious. This is very nice addition to my cookbook collection and a great tool to have around while I learn to change my eating habits.
Rating: Summary: Delicious, Healthy Food! Review: I LOVE this book! It is full of really delicious recipes, and all of them are relatively easy. I never thought I'd eat BETTER food while trying to get healthy!
Rating: Summary: I expected a lot more... Review: I got this cookbook not because I'm in Weight Watchers, but I enjoy healthy eating. Some of the recipes sound interesting enough, but aren't "everyday" fare. There are a lot of recipes that require one to live in a good-sized city to have access to the ingredients (oysters, lobster, arborio rice, wild mushrooms, different cheeses, semolina flour, creme fraiche, demi-glace sauce.) None of the recipes really seem kid-friendly, or low-fat versions of tried-and-true favorites. The dessert section doesn't have anything in it that hasn't already been covered by one of the other WW cookbooks. I greatly prefer Simply the Best and The Best of WW Magazine Cookbook to this one.
Rating: Summary: This is a great addition to my collection Review: I just had company for dinner last night and served the Gremolata-Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Tomato Relish to rave reviews! Every recipe I've tried so far has been great!
Rating: Summary: Read it today and ready to go... Review: I just read this book today, spending three hours browsing though it. I appreciate being able to bring delicious, beautiful food to the table. I too have been a Weight Watchers member and I have the New Complete Cookbook as well. The recipes seem easy to make with ingredients found easily in most groceries. Most stores are coming up to date with new products to accomate America's new "gormet at home" cooks. I am so impressed with the content of this book and I can't wait to get started. My mouth is watering...I must go cook!
Rating: Summary: Finally - WW for those who love to cook Review: I knew that teaming up with the CIA must be a good sign, and it is. The Bolivian Beef Stew is the best beef stew I've ever made. Baked Figs are scrumptious. Delicious muffins. I'm working my way through the book, and have made about 30 recipes. Not all are worth making again, but the winners more than make up for them.
Rating: Summary: Delicious, Healthy Food! Review: I LOVE this book! It is full of really delicious recipes, and all of them are relatively easy. I never thought I'd eat BETTER food while trying to get healthy!
Rating: Summary: Great Recipes Review: I've been cooking from this for almost a year and love it...I give it only 4 stars because it's not quite "everyday" cooking, and some ingredients are hard to find (and I live in Boston).
The food is gourmet and company-worthy. One thing I learned with this book - lemon zest makes everything yummier!
