Rating: Summary: Where's The simplicity for "New"lyweds? Review: Although this book has some great ideas, I don't find it very helpful for newlyweds just beginning on the journey to a new life, whom may need some simple recipes for starting out. These can be complicated at times. The name and a few recipes referring to candlelight meals you may wish to take time to do is about the only thing that puts this book into the gift category if anyone is looking for that special cookbook to give to Newlyweds. I also recommend "Honeymooner's Cookbook" and it's a more practical approach for newlyweds because the recipes are quite simple yet some very elegant to serve by candlelight. Also it has special features such as a cute recipe pocket & tabbed dividers that are simply pretty, tons of tips too on the back of each one to make things a little easier around the kitchen and whole house. With a nice custom designed cover, even a Wedding bouquet on the back cover, I would suggest it along with this cookbook or by itself.
Rating: Summary: I was expecting more tips and tricks Review: From the blurb on Amazon, I was expecting more tips, tricks and handholding from this book. Basically it's just recipes with a glossary in the back of cooking terms and herbs and spices. There are some entertaining tips but I would go to [online store] for a book like that. Not exactly what I expected when this book arrived. Also, I'd like to have nutritional information because we like to plan our meals to be moderately healthy.
Rating: Summary: Full of great recipes! Review: I asked my husband for this book during holiday season after seeing the author on the Food Network's Cooking Live a couple years ago. There is a good variety, from comfort food like meatloaf, to important-guests-are-coming food like chicken rolled with spinach and blue cheese. There are also useful suggestions for substitutions and variations, as well as explanations for the novice cook. Additionally, no matter how elegant the dish is, the recipe is simple and turns out delicious. I highly recommend the sun-dried tomato dip. And you don't have to be a newly-wed to appreciate the food, either!
Rating: Summary: Great for Beginners and Experienced Cooks Review: I first saw the author on Sara Moulton's TV show and thought her recipes seemed reasonable. Since my husband and I love to cook and entertain, I immediately bought her book hoping I was right. (We have several cookbooks that a master chef would have difficulty using.) The recipes in The Newlywed Cookbook are simple, yet deliciously gourmet. As a newlywed herself, Robin Vitetta-Miller understands the stress associated with the "firsts", her section of prepared menus offers great stress-free options that you can use as is or add your favorites to easily. We hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner using the turkey recipe and it was amazing! We have since enjoyed many of the other recipes and we have yet to find one we don't like. This is a must for any newlywed couple who enjoys cooking, entertaining and good food.
Rating: Summary: A fun book Review: I loved this book. It was a pleasure to read and the recipes are so simple and easy, yet yummy!
Rating: Summary: Wow! I Am So Glad I Bought This Book! Review: I never learned to cook, never thought I would be interested in cooking....until I bought this book. Married for less than one year, I've used this cookbook almost exclusively! The Super Bowl chili was a HUGE hit at our annual party this year, and my new husband LOVED the Valentine's Day dinner. The recipes are easy to follow, and I've been VERY happy with the taste and appearance of the dishes. One word of caution, keep your new spouse around to help out, because it can be tricky to make all of the suggested dishes at the same time! You WON'T be disappointed with this book!!

Rating: Summary: Great Beginner Book! Review: I purchased this book for a friend of mine who was getting married. The book was simple yet it covered all subjects that a person who has little to no experience can understand. The recipes are mainly cooking for 2 recipes. The best part about this book is the fact that the author covers important firsts, like the oh so scary Thanksgiving turkey dinner etc.. It's a must have for new brides with little cooking experience.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! Review: I purchased this cookbook right after I was married after seeing the author on television (one of the morning shows) and it has become my best friend in the kitchen. I am one of those people who gets intimidated in the kitchen, and this book was great. And my husband loves many of the receipes we have tried (especially the chicken marsalla). Great, easy to read format with clear directions. I have gotten many complements on the meals made from this book!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic cookbook! Review: My mother gave this to me after my wedding and I love it! The recipes are great -- most recipes use ingredients I already have in the house or can easily substitute. It is also great that the recipes are often geared to smaller numbers of servings -- two to four people, for example. I also appreciate the clear instructions and lists of required ingredients and supplies for each recipe.
