Summary: Awesomely delicious!
Review: For all you "wraps" lovers out there (as in the adulteration of food by combining all kinds of stuff and putting them in fancy or plain tortillas . . . as in we used to call them burritos!) read on!

Wraps, Easy Recipes for Handheld Meals by Mary Corpening Barber, Sara Corpening and Lori Lyn Narlock, published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco is filled with wonderful recipes that are indeed truly easy to make. They include breakfast, lunch, dinner and yes, even dessert wraps. (I can't wait to try one of the dessert ones! I love anything in a tortilla!) Last night, I made "King Creole," a tribute to my Cajun past and it was awesome!

Beautiful color photographs by Frankie Frankeny accompany many of the recipes. My kitchen cabinet had most of the ingredients (although I had to run out and buy onion powder and bay leaves) and flavored tortillas are available at a number of specialty grocery stores. Of course, plain flour tortillas can be used on all of the recipes.

You ought to have seen me dancing around the kitchen last night as I gleefully declared, "I MADE A WRAP!"

Bon Appetit! Vickie

Summary: eh, whatever.
Review: I bought this cookbook expecting it to have a few fun, easy recipes for wraps that I could toss together with stuff I had around the kitchen. Although the recipes and certainly the pictures look delicious, fun and easy they're not. It's not uncommon for recipes to have over a dozen ingredients. When I want to toss together a little lunch, I don't have time to track down 1/4 cup chopped pickled ginger or 2 cups cooked jasmine rice or 1/4 teaspoon orange oil. I have yet to make a single recipe from this book, despite having owned it for over nine months.

Summary: Excellent book for a newbie at wraps!
Review: I just received this book today, and I enjoyed the vibrant pictures that accompanied this book. I did not even start to think which one I should try making first, I think it might be the "This Lox Rocks" one (you'll see what I mean when you see the picture for this one). I give this book 4 stars, only because I wished it had pictures for every recipe. I know that might be too much to ask, but I am a beginner, and I would like to see pictures with every recipe, just to make me feel more at ease. Nonetheless, this is a super-duper book and I suggest those of you that would like to add a nice addition to your recipe collection to go ahead and buy it. Great for little get-togethers at home, dinner parties, and just every day eating. Great Buy for just $10.97 too!!!!!

Summary: Buy This Cookbook!
Review: I love everything about this cookbook and read it cover to cover. There are many vegetarian recipies and all the recepies can be made low fat with substitutions (for example, low fat sour cream instead of regular). The photos are beautiful and the writing is witty. You can try several of the recipies without expensive start-up costs and I made one right away with ingredients I had on hand. A delightful cookbook with great ideas I will be using for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Summary: A lot of fun!
Review: I really enjoy this book. It's very inspiring to look through. Most ingredients can be substituted. You could make a vegetarian version of almost all of the wraps. I made "German Enginerring" using smoky tempeh strips and sauerkraut instead of kielbasa. But for the "Rappin' with a Chick" I went all the way and used some organic chicken...it was delicious! When you pay careful attention to the quality of each ingredient, the results are well worth your effort. Each wrap is cleverly titled and many are pictured. Given the diversity of the recipes (cuisines from all over the world, as well as breakfast wraps and even ice cream wraps!) chances are you'll be able to take this book into the kitchen the moment it arrives and make yourself a wrap! This book also could be used to provide inspiration to give leftovers a second life. There are recipes where you could use leftover rice, potatoes, or even Thanksgiving turkey. If you love wraps, you should check out this book!
