Summary: ISO A Junior's Recipe...Is it in the book??
Review: I base my 5 star rating on the experience of eating at Juniors which I have done many times. I would like to know from anyone who has the book, if their Health Salad is contained within. The Health Salad is a mayo-less slaw that has a sweeter, vinegar based dressing. It used to be served on the tables in metal bowls and was offered for free. I have my own cheesecake secrets, but would love to know if the book contains the Health Salad recipe. Anyone with an answer, please respond via e-mail: chiffonade@hotmail.com

Summary: nothing spectacular
Review: I bought this book hoping to be able to make a great cheesecake. I made the marble cheesecake and quite honestly I thought that it [was awful]! I would have expected better from juniors, which is know for it's cheesecakes. I will give it one compliment, the corn muffin recipe is great and it is the only reason that I gave it 3 stars because I was not happy with any other recipes from this book.

Summary: A treasure
Review: I bought this book several months ago and have used it off and on ever since. Junior's makes those common, simple recipes taste so much better than one might be used to. Standouts for me so far include chocolate chip cookies, brownies, Buffalo wings, and, oddly, the fried chicken! The dipping batter recipe is simply outstanding for frying. It beats the pants off of the traditional flour->buttermilk or egg->cornflakes routine. I'm finally just getting around to making the cheescake (tonight) and am sure that I will not be disappointed. Get this book for a slice of fine Americana...

Summary: Fantasic history, but recipes are not precise
Review: I enjoyed reading about the evolution of Junior's and Brooklyn, but thought the recipes lacked clarity. For example: the Coconut Macaroon recipe never told you when or how to add the coconut! Nevertheless, I would have bought the book with just the cheesecake recipe and the history.

Summary: Much more than a cookbook!!!
Review: I just loved reading this "cookbook". The recipes all look so good. I already made the Deepdish Blueberry Pie and their pastry recipe, it was WONDERFUL.I even told some co-workers about these recipes. Now, I just wish I could go to Brooklyn and eat at Juniors. Maybe someday.

Review: I made the strawberry cheese cake from the directions in the book and it was a hit for Christmas. I still have to work on tweaking a few things because I was a little unclear about a couple of the steps but if you cook for the joy of cooking you will work around it and create a masterpiece. This will not stop me from buying directly from Juniors but I am glad to have this book in my arsenal of cookbooks.
