Rating: Summary: Great color-not just another how to cookbook Review: Over the top. Great recipes, music to cook by, and wonderful stories about this 15 year old Austin, Texas fine dining establishment...a must for Christmas! Great game recipes..wonderful desserts....great writing by Chefs Jeff Blank and Jay Moore and co-author Deborah Harter , beautiful photography by Laurie Smith and exquisite paintings by Shanny Lott, fabulous book design by Pun Nio...a great team has put together a great book. A must for any cookbook collector.
Rating: Summary: woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode Review: These guys could concoct a recipe for woolly mammoth meatballs a la mode, and I'd be willing to try it. Talk about imaginative, tongue-massaging food! But the recipes need to be examined closely, particulary with regards to proportion. The amount of liquid called for in the ancho-bock smashers is excessive, as is the amount of salt in the butternut squash, granny smith apple soup. Despite these glaring errors, this was without a doubt THE BEST COOKBOOK I purchased last year. Twice!
Rating: Summary: Way too much fun in the kitchen or on the coffee table! Review: This book features some of the most exiting people on the planet. It includes imaginative recipes and fearless methods from Jeff & Jay. The art is the most colorfull and exciting that I've ever seen. Shanny Lott must truly be a free spirited genius. The photography is exellent. I think I've seen some of Laurie's stuff in Savure. Deborah brings it all together in words that capture the playfully intelligent spirit of the entire team. Check out the Desert inspired by Anne Richard's Hair and the piece about George W. I recomend this as a must in anyones kitchen. Blow your freinds away with a little fearless cooking school of your own. It is the perfect gift for anyone especially if they like to cook.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous, entertaining and surprisingly useful! Review: This is one of, if not the best cookbook of the year. You don't have to be the world's best cook to enjoy it and create successful meals. And a great gift idea! Bon Appetit!

As you become saturated in it's contents you realize this is not just about cooking fearlessly this is about living fearlessly! Come up for air and then go deep to discover the intense splashes of color seasoned with just the right amount of humor make the flamboyant artwork as appetizing as its gastronomical counterparts! This coupled with amazing photography and damn good writing make this a fascinating read that is sure to stimulate your creative and digestive juices simultaneously! Katherine the Great
