Rating: Summary: Takes the meals we make a lot and makes them perfect. Review: I'm a beginning cook. In fact, I'm a remedial beginner. So I need loads of help, even for the simple stuff. I'm not going to get around to fancy French sauces for a long time. Right now I need some practical advice and some good, basic recipes for things like pancakes and Thanksgiving turkey. It's all there. Highly recommended.Pam Anderson's book is so easy to follow, so down-to-earth. That's what I've been looking for. I found it.
Rating: Summary: Fun to read and great to cook from. Review: This book offers entertaining reading--it's fun to learn how Anderson arrived at the perfect recipe. Many times, I think she's even telling the truth. I don't need any other muffin recipes after making hers.
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful resource for all who love to cook. Review: This book covers a wealth of information of what steps to take which will ultimately lead to a successful outcome. The explanations are clearly written out. I particularly liked how the author described all the methods she tried before coming up with her version of the perfect recipe. This book is a "must have" in any cooking person's library.
Rating: Summary: Just true Directions and Facts without the Fancy Pictures! Review: What a pleasure to read a cookbook that has true meaning. This certainly is NOT the book for cooks that just want to look at pictures. With this wonderful book you can get down to improving those meals that you have taken for granted for so many years. Make your friends and family wonder what miraculous discoveries you have found.
Rating: Summary: Handy Kitchen Companion Review: I have learned to cook from trial and error and I've only recently started exploring cookbooks. This book is a wonderful guide and very easy to follow. The sweets (brownies & apple pie) are exceptional and in this book is the creamiest, most delicious macaroni & cheese recipe I could find. The fried chicken wasn't up to my southern family standards, but the pancakes are heavenly. This is a great book to have for trying old American classic recipes.
Rating: Summary: book is a waste of time and money Review: If you enjoy reading about all the ways NOT -- repeat NOT -- to cook something, you will enjoy this book. Every unsuccessful attempt is listed, in detail. If only the successful methods were listed, the book would be about five pages in length.
Rating: Summary: Magic! Review: It is always a delight reading works by Ms. Anderson. She writes clearly, and her painstaking research means I don't have to do it! Her technique is flawless, and the results magnificent. She has shot (and cooked)some sacred cows. My standard method of cooking a turkey is dismissed - and hers is so much better! Thank you for a great addition to my collection.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Book! Review: I just finished the fantastic Meat Loaf recipe - what a great recipe and what a great book. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to know how to get it right every time.
