Summary: a real life saver for this self-employed mom of 3
Review: A wonderful mix of tastes and menus in this easy to follow book. I've used this book almost exclusively for a couple of years now and we've never gotten bored. Sometimes I just grab this book on the way to the grocery store and use the shopping list provided for each menu I want. The cooking strategy is the best thing I've seen, I can always have an entire dinner ready in 30 min because the planning is already done!

Summary: Good idea but ...
Review: I bought this cookbook based on the reviews I read here. While I love some of the ideas these recipes generate, I find that most of the recipes lack flavor. I understand that they were made with children in mind but I even have to add spice to suit my 18 month old's tastes. With this in mind, it might have been helpful if the authors had added notes on complementary spices that would punch the recipes up a bit.

Summary: An everyday basic
Review: I disagree with the previous review, in fact I recently purchased a second copy after my first one fell apart from food stains and so much use. While not every menu has been our favorite, 9 out of 10 are so good that we make them again and again. There are a lot of interesting themed options, and after making a few of the menus several times I have gotten some down to 20 minutes! My husband enjoys using this book and it has inspired him to be the cook more often, an activity he normally doesn't enjoy that much (although he always likes to eat). I recently also purchased Nava Atlas's Vegetarian 5-Ingredient Gourmet and that has also become a standard in our home.

Summary: My most used cookbook
Review: I have at least 20 vegetarian cookbooks and this is the one I have used most. I love that the recipes include a full meal plan - main dish and side dishes, as well as suggestions like serve with bread, green salad, baked potatoes, etc. It takes a lot of thinking out of meal planning. My family has enjoyed 80% to 90% of the meals I have prepared from this book and most of them take under 30 minutes to prepare. I highly recommend this cookbook. I wish Nava Atlas would write another one like this one.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I LOVE this cookbook! I was somewhat apprehensive about purchasing a cookbook that uses so many "convenience" foods (canned beans, frozen/canned veggies) but I was very pleasantly surprised. I use fresh foods most of the time and the canned/frozen ones as a backup so it's really up to you. I have only made about a dozen or so of the recipes so far, since I just recently purchased the book, but they have all been fantastic. I have never gotten so excited about a cookbook before and Im not the best cook in the world so this has been a godsend! The recipes are really that quick too!

Summary: Food I'll actually make!
Review: I own a few veggie cookbooks, but some of the meals require too much time and detail. The quicker the better as far as I am concerned. I don't usually cook for company or make anything too fancy, so I really liked the fact that the dishes called for canned/frozen veggies. I do not shop for produce as often as I should, so using these products are essential. I actually use the cookbook and I've created some tasty meals. There's plenty of room to add your own flair if you so choose, but it is not needed.

Summary: Not all the quick
Review: I was dissapointed with this book. The meals are not that quick and easy. There is a good variety to choose from, and they look tasty, but I haven't made too many due to the complexity of the recipes.

Summary: Easy, Tasty--For Real. And Really 28 minutes too!
Review: I've been cooking vegetarian for four years. This is the first book that is truly EASY and, so far, the recipes I made have been really tasty. This is great for families and people with small kids who want nutritious meals FAST. I have a two-year-old and I can prepare an entire dinner while she watches a 30 minute video. The recipes have even been "approved" and enjoyed by my non-vegetarian husband, which is more than I can say for any of the complicated ones I labored over from my Vegetarian Times magazine. Another plus of this book is that all of the ingredients are not obscure and can be readily found at mainstream grocery stores. The "Penne with Broccoli and Garlic" and the "Mexican Lasagne" are our favorites. Buy this book to please yourself, your kids and even some meat-eaters. Happy cooking.
