Summary: Never a dull dish...
Review: I have had this cookbook for over a year now and in that time period have gone from being a vegetarian to, once again, a meat-eater. Nevertheless, my recent transformation has not kept me from utilizing this book for most of my cooking endeavors. Every recipe I have tried thus far has been easy to follow, easy to prepare, and extremely easy to eat. There are a number of recipes that I continue to prepare over and over again. I highly recommend this book to any vegetarian or anyone who appreciates vegetarian cooking.

Summary: only for cooks with a lot of time
Review: I have used many of the soup recipes out of this cookbook for quite some time. But from trial and error, i have made adjustments to the ingredients and prepping stages. Most of the soups recipes are thin soups and require a lot of time (whether prep or prepare) and ingredients. But this is a good vegetarian/healthy resource for cooks.

Summary: One of my favorites...
Review: I just bought this cookbook a few weeks back and have already made numerous recipes from it. The recipes make it easy to incorporate veggies into your diet. The drawings and hand-written text make it a very charming read. The Broccoli/Mushroom/Noodle casserole is to die for! Even my meat-eating hubby has liked everything so far...

Summary: Very diplomatic (and tasty) veggie cuisine
Review: I just purchased this book a few weeks ago, in the hopes of cutting back my meat consumption and having fun and tasty meatless entrees to choose from. This book is a godsend! I'm not a total vegetarian, but I prefer to only eat fish or poultry occasionally and this is a great compromise for my meat-eating family. For example, my dad is a classic meat-and-potato kind of guy, but downed seconds of everything I've made from this book, especially the eggplant parmesan and Spinach-Rice Casserole. He says that he doesn't even notice the lack of meat. My fiance is a picky eater and sometimes has to be prodded into trying new things, but he always manages to sneak out with the leftovers of these dishes when he goes home. All in all, this would be a great book for a vegetarian in an omnivore family. Just make sure you have a huge mixing bowl for the casseroles, or else you'll end up flinging rice (noodles, etc.) all over the place during the mixing steps. Oh, yeah, and I agree with the earlier reviewer who said that the brownie recipe is definitive. So is the Italian Tomato Sauce.

Summary: Delicious...
Review: I live in a kosher college house, and we use Moosewood weekly. It has great vegitarian recipes, healty and delicious. Yum.

Summary: Riddled with errors
Review: I love reading this book but the recipes needed more testing before publication. The nachos sauce calls for a horrendous amount of sugar (an ingredient typo?). GAdo-gado is bland, bland bland. My friends and I marvel that this book has become so popular, because so many of the recipes are so bad.

Summary: my very favorite!
Review: I love this cookbook! Every recipe I've ever tried has been delicious, and Katzen is careful to include recipe alterations to reduce the fat and/or cholesterol content of the dishes. It's a classic vegetarian cookbook, and for good reason--it really is one of the best. And, do yourself a favor and try the eggplant parmesan recipe. It will leave the greasy restaurant variety in the dust.

Summary: I love the classic Moosewood Cookbook!
Review: I prefer this original version of the Moosewood Cookbook over the new, revised version. For lowcarb eaters who are forever searching for new and interesting things to add to their menu, this cookbook Bible is an essential item on the shelf.

Summary: Recipes have TONS of variety, simple preparation.
Review: I purchased the Moosewood Cookbook last summer, during one of my many attempts to revive the "health" level of my diet. I'm so glad that I added this book to my collection.

The recipes use a wide variety of ingredients. So, you'll never get bored if you cook from it on a regular basis. The variety in the collection also allows you to make use of fruits and vegetables that are in season throughout the year.

The time required to prepare most dishes is under an hour. This makes the book ideal for weekday cooking, a time when most of us should be eating better, but don't due to busy schedules. I made the vegetable chowder for dinner last night. I needed about an hour total. The result was a delicious, healthy, lowfat meal in a bowl. Perfect for a hectic Wednesday.

Finally, I'd like to say that everything I've cooked from this book has tasted FABULOUS! I haven't missed the fat. I love the fresh ingredients, particulary the use of herbs. And I love the fact that I'm eating healty food that also tastes wonderful.

Hats off to Mollie Katzen and the Moosewood crew. This book is a godsend.
