Summary: Great Book!
Review: I've tried several of the recipes in this book and they were all great. Yes, the texture is slightly different than recipes with egg, but not bad, just different. The flavor of everything I've made has been wonderful!

Summary: recipe taste like the real thing!
Review: Just got this book for my egg and nut allergic boy. I was a frustrated former baker who had become egg-free to protect my son from anaphylaxis. The food allergy networks recipes were decent at best (what do you expect with no dairy or egg in a baked good). Just tried one of the banana bread recipes and it was great. Moist and not crumbly-astounding for egg free. You really couldn't tell the difference. I'm going to try more but I hit a winner the first time. A word of thanks to the author for making my little guy's life a little sweeter and more normal!

Summary: Every recipe is a home run!
Review: Our family life completely changed when one of our children was diagnosed with egg and peanut allergies last year. We have found that taking peanuts and tree nuts out of our home life hasn't been that tough - but eggs are everywhere! I tried recipes from the Food Allergy Cookbook and they were very strange - lots of hard stuff with no color. The great thing about this cookbook is that each recipe works! Rosemarie doesn't lie - she has put together recipes for almost any baked good you can think of. What she doesn't tell you is that these recipes are much easier than traditional baking - and come together really really fast, which means that you can bake even when you don't have much time. With most you simply throw everything in a bowl and mix. Like the other reviewers, my friends are all asking for the recipes too. Here are some of our favorites: "my favorite apple cake", the brownies. good morning muffins, bizmark yogurt cake, the other yellow cake, poppy seed cookies, pear muffins and zucchini bread. Hint if you can't have nuts - try substituting 1/4 to 1/2 cup of wheat germ for some of the flour in the recipe. It gives a nice nutty flavor. Happy baking!

Summary: Stunning Beyond Belief!!
Review: Thank you, thank you Rosemarie Emro!! I can't believe I hadn't discovered this cookbook of yours sooner but better late than never! All the "allergy" cookbooks I've seen also assume that someone allergic to eggs is also allergic to wheat, dairy products and nuts - which I am not! It's soooo nice to see recipies that are JUST eggless! And don't have any odd ingredients that you have to get at a health food store. Unlike yourself or other reviewers of this book, it is not my child who is allergic to eggs, it is ME! (I have 2 children and neither have any food allergies). I am 44 years old and my mother and I have spent many many frustrating years trying to bake without eggs - believe me, it's not easy. I am DEATHLY allergic to eggs, can't eat 'em, can't touch 'em, can't even smell them cooking!! So many birthday parties when I was a little girl when I felt like a freak because I couldn't eat the birthday cake . . . so many buffets and dinner parties as an adult where there was maybe 1 or 2 things on the table that I could eat. I absolutely cannot wait to try every single recipe in this book! If you want any advice on growing up with an egg allergy, let me know! Thanks again for this great cookbook.

Summary: Yeah I can bake again!
Review: This book is fantastic. I use it all the time. I have 2 sons that are egg and nut allergic and its wonderful to have recipes at my fingertips that actaully come out tasting and looking great! I have tried a lot of the recipes in the book and my non-allergic friends and family ask me for the recipes. There are a ton of recipies to chose from, I have not made anything yet that I have been disapointed in. I dont even bother looking anywhere else now when I want a recipe.

The choclate chip is great! This Christmas I made cookie press ones from the butter cookie recipe, I used imitation almond extract and it was JUST like the ones my mom made when I was a kid! I was so happy to be able to carry on the tradition. The sugar cookie one also works great. I have a hard time keeping up with my familys demand for the pumpkin and banana breads. I keep a stash of frozen chocolate cupcakes in the freezer at all times so if we go to a birthday party or other special event then my boys dont have to skip desert.

Many of the recipes have nuts in them, I just omit them. This book and sunbutter have helped my family lead a more normal life. Sunbutter is a alternative to peanutbutter made from sunflower seeds that actaully tastes great. You can get check it out at www.sunbutter.com

Summary: I'd pay $50 or more for this book!!!
Review: This book is WELL WORTH the money!! If it was $50, I'd pay it!!

After trying so many "egg-free" recipes off the internet that totally flopped and wasted my time and ingredients, I was so elated when I came across this book at a local bookstore. My husband, who is highly allergic to eggs, never could have any tasty baked goods. The best thing about Emro's recipes is that the baked goods actually taste good and 85% of the recipes are simple to make!

The baked goods I've made from this book are indistinguishable from your regular, quality baking with eggs! I prefer this egg-free recipe book over many of my bakery books that have eggs! I HIGHLY suggest buying this book! I've made wonderful cookies, cupcakes, cakes, shortcake, and more! I haven't even skimmed the surface of this book's potential and I would have paid $50 for the recipes thus far!

(Helpful hint: on occasion the batter may get a titch dry because of the lack of eggs, she generally replaces eggs with oil, etc, sometimes it is necessary to add a teaspoon or two of water, sometimes she will even say so). Use common sense with this cookbook. My husband has never been happier. He can finally partake of treats on the hoildays or just for fun!

Just tried the eggless cheesecake and it was wonderful. I was amazed I made it and it turned out so close to regular cheesecake, if not better. Absolutely wonderful recipes!

GREAT JOB ROSEMARIE EMRO! This is the best cookbook I have ever owned and will ever own! I'd DEFINITELY suggest this book to a friend, even one who could eat eggs! BUY IT NOW!

Summary: Some Great Vegan Recipes
Review: Tis' the season for baking Christmas cookies and I'm doing just that. I've just completed makinng batches of anisette-flavored Italian cookies and basic rolled sugar cookies (recipes contained in this book). They were easy to make and came out great. As a strict, ethically-motivated vegan who eats no animal products, including eggs and dairy products, it is a joy to find some recipes that don't require a lot of adjustments. Approximately, one third of the recipes in this book are vegan; some of the others can be adapted with minimal changes by using dairy-free substitutes such as soymilk, etc. The only weak point in the book is the cake section. Some are okay; others are not. I'm a real cake fan, remembering the light, fluffy, moist and tasty conventional cakes of my youth, before I became a vegan. Most of the cake recipes presented here are denser and courser-crumbed by comparison to those with eggs. I think a few could use some additional trials in the kitchen for fine-tuning. However, the cookie, muffin and pie recipes are well worth the cost of the book. I hope more books of this type will appear in print. There's a crying need. Many people don't want to use eggs in their diets: vegans (of course!); cholesterol-watchers; observant Hindus and some Buddhists. Yet others avoid dairy products due to lactose intolerance and religious reasons (kosher diet). That's a lot of people! Congratulations to the author for developing some top-notch recipes! I suggest a follow-up volume of dessert recipes without dairy and eggs. The world could use it!

Summary: The best I've found
Review: Trying to make safe food for our family now that my son has been diagnosed with egg, nut and peanut allergies is a challenge, especially when it comes to baked goods. Most allgery-free cookbooks are awful, taking the cop-out route of only including recipes for things that don't normally have those ingredients anyway (thanks, I can find those in my regular cookbooks, can't I?) and not giving enough guidance for making a batch of cookies or a yummy cake for a child who can't eat anything of that sort not baked at home by a vigilant Mom. This book fills that niche, and fills it well. I haven't tried every recipe, but every one I've tried has been scrumptious.
