Summary: Worth it.
Review: This book earned its price many times over with the perfected lemon tart. Some recipes require a little bit of practice, i.e. the brioche French toast, before serving to guests.

Summary: So simple, it's perfect!
Review: This book's title is so wonderfully true to its content. The recipes and ingredient "personalities" brilliantly capture the essence of baking; they're inspirational, accessible and thoughtful!

Summary: Best dessert cookbook on the market
Review: This is easily the best dessert cookbook we've ever run across. With everything from traditional long-standing favorites to "nouveau" modern day treats - all of which are easy to follow and very approachable, even for a beginner. Great anecdotes accompany each recipe, which detail the history or creation of the dessert, or provide helpful tips on the preparation. Excellent book - a must for any dessert lover.

Summary: Inspiring & Well Written
Review: What a great book to actually read first, then cook. Not only are the recipes clearly and simply written, but the scientific side notes are interesting and make everything click. I can't wait to try the cover recipe - Pavlova - looks delectable!

Summary: We're celebrating our love affair with baking ingredients!
Review: When we go into the kitchen each day to cook, what draws us in like a magnet is...the ingredients. We've fallen in love with our own ingredients! The wonderful smells, the tastes, the textures and the satisfaction of our "four food groups" (butter sugar flour eggs) are irresistable. We decided to share our obsession by writing this book, thinking there must be others out there who feel as we do. In fact, we got so close with the ingredients that they each developed their own personality which we explain at the start of each chapter. The chapters are devided up by ingredient, so you can pick a recipe that way, the way you might order from a dessert menu. We've found that if you love chocolate, for instance, you don't care what form its in, as long as it's chocolate. You go hunting for that chocolate item on the menu. And when you find it, it's almost like you've found your home. It doesn't matter if it's a cake, a pie or an ice cream sandwich...as long as it's chocolate. That's how our book is organized. Need an up lifting dessert for your guest after a rich dinner? Try the citrus chapter for a delicious solution. That's how to have fun with this book. There's even beverage suggestions for each dish to raise the enjoyment level. It's filled recipes we've developed and some from our family and friends that were so good we decided to pass them on to you. The memories each time we make them help us see that magic connection when a recipe is passed down. We hope you enjoy reading our stories, and get butter stains all over this book.

Summary: Too complicated
Review: While I was really interested in seeing this book. I tried some of the recipes in here and they were a bit too complicated for the everyday person. I love the idea of a lot of what is in here and I really wanted to love the book. There are a number of recipes in here I still have to try. I have to admit that I have only done about 3 so probably not enough to go on.
