Summary: An Indispensable Book for the Home Brewer
Review: I found this book to be a "must have" in my homebrew library. The book begins with interesting and useful information about homebrewing...clearly showing the authors' knowledge about and love for beer making. The bulk of the book however, and probably why you would wind up buying it, is the recipe section. You will find recipes for making some of the world's finest beers. I have made a number of interesting and excellent beers following the recipes they include. They come out very, very close to the original. And because you made them, you might even enjoy these "clones" more than the original. The recipes themselves are clearly written and easy to follow. Homebrewers should really enjoy this book.

Summary: clonebrews
Review: I have been brewing beer for 9 years and this book has been by far the most helpful. The beer I brew now is better than anything I've made before. The recipes are easy to follow and Mark and Tess are very helpful with providing the required ingredients. I have tried at least 6 different recipes and the results have been excellent. If you are a beginner and want to learn how to brew good beer fast I would definately recommend buying this book. Try the Bass Ale, it's simple and you will be amazed at how similar it tastes to the real thing. Thanks, Mark and Tess for broadening my homebrewing experiences.

Summary: Recipes Made Easy
Review: I have been brewing for about 6 years now and have found this book extremely helpful in recreating (I guess cloning is the appropriate word here) a specific beer or in stimulating the thought process when I just want to try and brew something different. In addition to the list of ingredients and a little bit of history, each recipe provides clear directions for an extract, partial mash or all grain version, making it adaptable to whatever your brewing level or time constraints allow. The base version of each recipe is extract, with modifications for the partial mash and all grain. I am primarily an extract brewer, but the book has helped me to step up to the all grain versions with confidence.

I have brewed many of the recipes in the book and have won several ribbons using both extract and all grain versions. I am looking forward to the new book by the Szamatulskis, because not all of my favorites were included in Clone Brews!

Summary: Just the Best!
Review: I have been brewing for many years and scorn my college buddies for drinking sub-par beer. Upon reading this book, I could not get over the myriad of recipes available. I do not know how the authors did it, but they have the recipe for my favorite beer, Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter. This beer has been has been emptying my wallet, as it is priced at $13.00 a six pack. When I studied abroad in England, it was called Nourishing Strong Stout. I am just soooooooo excited to see such an informative and well-laid out book. Cannot wait until Clone Brews II. Bottle caps off to the authors, Tess and Mark Szamatulski!

Summary: Home Brewing Could Not Be Easier!!
Review: I have been frequenting Maltose Express for about three years now. If you have never had the opportunity to see a real Home Brew store, make the effort to see this one in Monroe Connecticut. It is unlike any other Home Brew store I have ever seen. The shelves are always well stocked and the ingredients are fresh (No waiting 4 days for a packet of yeast to rise because it is 8 months old). Mark and Tess are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to brewing beer. The book Clonebrews says it all!! The recipes in the book are incredible. The first recipe I brewed was New Castle Brown Ale. After waiting many weeks for it to finish fermenting, I finally got to taste it. I could not believe how great it tasted. I actually thought I was drinking the real thing. As I do with all my beers, (thanks to Tess) it was kegged. I brought it to a party and told everyone it was New Castle Brown Ale. No one even knew the difference until I told them! The information and recipes in this book are worth their weight in gold. This book is not just for the very experienced home brewer, but for the beginner as well. This is a MUST have!! Cheers to Tess and Mark!! Can't wait for the next book!

Summary: Fantastic resourse for homebrewers
Review: I have been getting my homebrew supplies from Mark & Tess' homebrew shop (Maltose Express, in Monroe CT.) for several years now & thus have had ample opportunity to try their recipes & get their advice on how to achieve a certain style in a homebrew. With this book, those homebrewers not fortunate enough to live nearby now have access to Mark & Tess' expertise. A big question often asked of homebrewers is whether or not they can make a beer like Heineken, Guinness, Bass, etc., etc. Now with this book a brewer can approximate the taste of his or her favorite beer at home. Thus far I've brewed nothing but good batches w/Mark & Tess' recipes. (Those who can ought to try their "Never Fail Pale Ale" in the June 1997 of "Brew Your Own" magazine.) Homebrewers can either follow the recipes in this book exactly, or experiment around some (at the very worst, you still have beer). Another item unique to this homebrew book, is that each recipe includes extract, mini-mash, or all-grain versions. That way, regrdless of which level you brew, from novice to all grain, you can pick up this book a start right away on any recipe. I also know that a great deal of reseach went into finding these recipes. For example, for Elm City Connecticut Ale, Mark & Tess spoke to two former brewers of the New Haven Brewery, as well as the man who created the recipe. I highly recommend trying this book and enjoying a fine clonebrew.

Summary: Excellent results
Review: I have completed and tasted a batch of Bass Ale and Warsteiner using partial mash and all-grain, respectively. Both have turned out better than any other recipes I have used. The instructions are clear and the extract/partial/all-grain conversions are right-on so far. The only suggestion I have is adding some detail to the post-fermentation phase of each recipe. Not all beers detail how long to lager, which are better filtered, etc... Regardless, I am getting spectacular results using a little common sense and some basic brewing reference materials.

Summary: You Can't Afford Not To Have This Book!!!
Review: I have had this book for almost a year now and have brewed a great many of the recipes in it. The information is fantastic. What a great idea to have beers from around the world. If I wanted to drink Bass or New Castle or some other regular beer, I would just go to the store and buy it. You can't afford not to have this book. Yes, the book has some beers you may have never heard of but the descriptions for them tell you exactly what they taste like and what to expect. Can't wait to try another one.. I hear there may be a second book coming out. Hopefully it will be soon!!!!

Summary: What a great book!
Review: I not only enjoyed this book, and have brewed at least five of the recipes, but I also frequent Mark and Tess's store in CT. These people know and love homebrewing, and want to see their customers succeed. With their easy to follow reciepes, even a novice can brew a very drinkable beer. And as you progress in your skill level, this book grows with you - every beer reciepe has an extract, mini-mash and all grain version. This is definately my most used homebrew book!
