Summary: A delightful cookbook filled with flavorful recipes
Review: Its not too often when you pick up a cookbook you take sheer delight in its recipe collection. This book just does that. It is for those of us that enjoy common recipes that with a special ingredient or two it becomes something extradinorinary.

This book is has several different sections covering a wide range of tastes. For breakfast this cookbook offers many tasty dishes to wake up to. This book is filled with all sorts of hearty muffins the Oatmeal-Banana Muffin with Chocolate Chip is wonderful, hearty and sweet. The Panama Buttermilk Pancakes are heavenly the addition of banana and coconut make for a delicious breakfast.

This book has so many different salad dressing recipes and vinagrettes you are sure find a new favorite. Sour Cherry, Cranberry, Dijon, and my favorite Lemon-Dill Vinaigrette. There are heartier dishes such as the succulent Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Procuitto and Sun Dried Tomatoes, Chicken Potpie with Foster's Herb Biscuits are down right good home cooking.

And did I mention the desserts? Blondies, Brownies, Chocolate Chip cookies, and so much more. So not only are there tons of great recipes the book is laid out very well, and easy to read. The instructions are extremely clear, and they aren't confusing. This book has been a welcomed addition to my personal recipe collection.

Summary: I'll Make 80%
Review: Let me echo several reviews: the quantities are large. But most recipe are easily halved.

I've had this book three days. Already I have made the N.Y. crumb cake (actually, a half recipe and our family of four is still eating it three days later), the chilequiles with tomatillo salsa (again, half recipe), and the roasted red potato salad (half recipe). This afternoon, my 10 year-old made the Blondies (full recipe). We now have Blondies for a platoon.

With all that food, good thing all results have been wonderful.

Buy this book.

Summary: buy this book, you won't be sorry
Review: Like the other reviewer said, I too am very picky about cookbooks. It's true this cookbook does not have the number of color photographs you will find in Barefoot Contessa, but once you try the recipes, you'll see that the consistency is much better insofar as the results you get. I have made a number of the recipes and plan to make more and so far I haven't had any clunkers. Buy this book and hope like me that Sara makes another cookbook real soon.

Summary: The Foster's Market Cookbook
Review: One of the best cookbooks I have acquired! I have over 200!!
Easy to follow directions, great food!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great recipes and easy-to-read layout make this a winner
Review: Sara Foster's "Foster's Market Cookbook" is a hands-down winner. She combines a comfortable manner with comfort food galore--usually comfort food with just enough of a twist to make it new and interesting. Granny Foster's Refrigerator Rolls (which keep for an amazing two weeks in the fridge if you want to put off baking them) are highly recommended!

In addition to featuring terrific, simple, delicious recipes, the layout of the book makes it a breeze to read. It's amazing to me how many cookbooks are actually sort of hard to follow when it comes to the directions, but this one isn't. The design is attractive and the font easy to read. Each recipe direction is numbered--a wonderful thing if you happen to look away and lose your place. For the most part, each recipe is complete on a single page and when this is not the case, the recipe is usually complete on the facing page. This makes following the recipes a breeze. This one is a keeper.

Summary: The best cookbook I own (and I'm PICKY)!
Review: The criteria I set forth for an ideal cookbook is that the recipes must be relatively easy to make (but the food has to be outstanding), it has to be beautifully organized, and the ingredients must be easy to obtain. The magic touch of this cookbook is that it not only meets all of these criteria, but you can use it for weekly family cooking *and* for entertaining. The recipes are simple and affordable enough to work for nightly home cooking but tasty enough to feed guests for special occasions. What a star you are, Sara Foster, for sharing these lovely recipes with all of us! The Foster's Market Cookbook will be my number one gift for fellow home cooks and food lovers from now on and I'll continue to use it each week in my own home.

Summary: She ain't no Barefoot Contessa
Review: This book was very disappointing. The Spicy Gingerbread recipe was EXCELLENT. Everything else I've made out of here was just okay at best. Really not worth the time or money.

Summary: A balanced approach to cooking well.
Review: This cookbook strikes the right balance for people with busy lives who also are interested in putting fresh, flavorful food on the table. Ms. Foster has written her instructions clearly and concisely, offering suggestions for substitutions or variations to suit your individual tastes. The dishes are straight forward and simple to follow, emphasizing ingredients in their season for a fullness of flavor. There is no love of perfection or preciousness here, just an appreciation of and a desire for full flavor. The recipes yield meals that taste like much more effort than they actually are, and will have you anticipating the next dish. Enjoy.
