Summary: Doesn't hit the spot
Review: When buying a book with clone recipies, i expect to find some good clones. Perhaps the beers will taste a bit like the original, i haven't tested all recipies. However, there are some beers i know a bit about the original recipe. The listed recipes for a supposed clone of these beers are way off. It springs to mind that these beers have only been brewed using the extract recipes?

I do still rate it 2 stars however, because it's sometimes better to have a doubtful recipe than none. I wouldn't blindly trust a recipe, be critical. Example: Vlaskop is brewed using 40 unmalted barley, which isn't mentioned here at all.

One thing i do like are the tables about yeasts and malt.
It could well be a good book for extractbrewers, for all-grain it certainly isn't. The conversions from extract to all grain are just to simple to be true.

Summary: Homebrew shop owner's testimonial
Review: Zok's homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies is a homebrew shop in Eastern Connecticut catering to both beginning and seasoned homebrewers. Owner Paul T. Zocco is a all grain homebrewer who is in the thick of amateur New England homebrew competitions, currently in 1st in homemade cider, and in the top 5 in beer. States Zocco " Beer Captured is developing as my best selling book. I've been a homebrewer for years, and have always come up with my own recipes, with great success. After seeing the popularity of this publication, and Tess and Mark's previous book "Clone Brews", I decided on giving one of their recipes a chance. The resulting Belgian Wit was as good as it could be, doing very well both in competition and at home with many beer savvy homebrewers giving great accelades. I wish Tess and Mark much luck in their future efforts. If their next publication is as good as the last two publications, I'll have to give them their own book section in my store.
