Rating: Summary: Freezer Cooking Made Easy! Review: The Freezer Cooking Manual from 30 Day Gourmet, in my opinion, is one of the best freezer cooking books on the market. With over 60 recipes, and 50 more available online for purchasers of the book, it has more recipes than most other freezer cookbooks. The authors of this book want you to use recipes for your cook day that your family will enjoy. After all, if you go to all that work to prepare meals that no one likes, then you've wasted your time! I have tried almost 20 of the recipes in this book, and every single one of them has been "edible," and most of them have been delicious! There were a few that my family ate, but said that it wasn't their favorite, but overall I am very impressed with the recipes. This book, however, is not just a recipe book. It has complete instructions for planning, prepping for, and carrying out your own cook day. This is not a book where you have to use the recipes that the author's family likes, but that are not winners in your family's idea. In addition to the 60+ great recipes, instructions are given for converting your family's favorite recipes. Even if you never use one of the recipes in the book, the instructions, worksheets, and comprehensive equivalency tables in the back make this cookbook worth purchasing! If you're serious about trying freezer cooking, pick this book first!
Rating: Summary: Such an awesome system Review: I have been "freezer" cooking for over 9 years. I have used this book for the past 7 and can honestly say it is my favorite in the genre. I own many similar cookbooks but this one has been far and away the easiest to understand and follow. It's true the majority of meals are not "gourmet" cuisine but then we all own cookbooks for that! This cookbook excels in the area it was intended: Good cooking, tasty meals, easy preparation, common ingredients and nearly fool proof instructions for cooking a whole lot of meals in one day. It comes with every worksheet you need. Their website is great and the discussion boards offer very friendly, helpful information. My family loves every thing I have cooked from this cookbook and I can't say that about any of my others! If you can only purcahse one cookbook this is the one to pick. I highly recommend it. If the only thing you ever make is the "Frozen Peanut Butter Bars" it is worth it's weight in gold........YUMMMMM!!!
Rating: Summary: this book changed my life Review: I began to freezer cook in October of 1999, and I have never looked back since. These recipes have become my family's favorites, mostly due to the fact that they are warm, hearty, delicious, and satisfying! The fact that I can adapt my family recipes with the worksheets provided inside makes this manual superior to all other 30 day cooking books which seem to require you to just eat their recipes. This is a skill every woman should have, whether you are a mom, a wife or a single working woman. It will change your life for the BEST!
Rating: Summary: This book changed my life! Review: I tried freezer cooking using a different freezer cookbook. It was just too complicated to figure out how much to buy, how to divide it up, and especially the best way to prepare it all once I got it home. Then I ran across the Freezer Cooking Manual and bulk cooking became a breeze! The step-by-step plan of action and the *fabulous* worksheets alone are worth double what the book cost. The recipes aren't full of fancy ingredients, but they sure are tasty. Even my super pick husband has had a hard time finding a recipe he didn't like. Freezer cooking has saved me time, money and my sanity. Now I have time for *me* again!
Rating: Summary: Kid friendly and money saving recipes Review: I've tried other once-a-month cookbooks but my all time favorite is the Freezer Cooking Manual from 30 Day Gourmet. Using 30 Day Gourmet recipes has not only saved me time but money because you do all your cooking in one major session. No wasted produce, no wasted meats, everything is used all at once. The best part is my kids will even eat the meals prepared. A real keeper!
Rating: Summary: Not My Style Review: If you enjoy tasty and original style meals, then this cookbook is probably not for you. It has some great concepts and tips on freezing, but I find the recipes to be a bit bland and boring. I enjoy making more creative dishes with more flavor and flare, but that is just me. I think I will stick to the "Quick and Easy" recipes from my favorite Gourmet catalouges and websites. I found that in the time it takes for me to put all of these recipes together for dinner, I could have created a "fresh" and tasty dinner just as quickly. This would probably be good for a working mom who's husband is normally cooking dinner for himself or the kids. (No offense husbands, but we all know you don't have the patience to cook a real meal!)
Rating: Summary: Great Idea Review: I really love this book. The worksheets help you to plan and organize your shopping, and the authors have provided lots of good information to get you started cooking (tips on freezers, containers, freezing and doubling family favorites). There are several recipes in the book with doubled, tripled, and quadrupled ingredient list, very helpful. While the recipes are high in fat, the authors do discuss lower fat versions of each recipe. Many of the recipes seem plain, but the book does allow that the individual cooks will adjust each recipe to suit your family's taste. Further, you are encouraged to use your own tried and true family recipes that your family already love. My highest endorsment.
Rating: Summary: It's so Easy and Fun! Review: This book is great! It was much better than I expected. Don't order it expecting to be entertained - this book tells you how to get the work done! There's only about 45 pages or so of "reading" and figuring it out. The rest of the book consists of worksheets that help you figure out when you need, what order to do things in and how to get started. The last part of the book is recipes but not weird recipes (My husband is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy and he even liked these!). The recipes are especially designed for freezing and even has the ingredients arranged in tables so you can prepare for 1 meal or up to 6 meals! These ladies are just normal folks like you and me who figured out a way to same time and money!
Rating: Summary: Best Thing Since Sliced Bread! Review: I was more than impressed with this book. I can't put it down! It tells you how to do everything and even makes it look easy. Gives you blank forms to use plus even gives you a web address with MORE recipes. I can't wait to get started!!
Rating: Summary: ITS ALL RIGHT HERE!!!! Review: Everything you need to get started is right here in this manual. I love cooking this way. With three kids and owning my own business, I don't like the stress of deciding what to have for dinner every night. The question I dislike more than any other....what's for dinner? Now its written down for everyone to see. This book comes with forms for planning menus, pantry inventory, shopping list, freezer inventory, everything you can imagine to get started. It has delicious recipes and helpful freezer hints. I love this book!!! I've been using this system for over 4 years! Love it, love it, love it!!! Did I mention it saves money too?!!!!!
