Rating: Summary: A great cookbook but too difficult to cook Review: It's a great cookbook, but it's typical Marth Steward style. Most of the dishes take a lot of efforts to prepare.
Rating: Summary: Martha Stewart Cookbook: It's a GOOD thing! Review: Like good wine, Martha continues to delight the masses! I love this book! Many people have thought Martha to be out of touch with reality, and while I understand where they are coming from, I think she has done a wonderful job in not making this book too difficult to understand. The recipes are very well organized, and add a great compliment to her show and website. Martha, I love you!
Rating: Summary: Another Good One From Ms. Martha!! Review: Love her or hate her, she has some good recipes!! Easy to follow, awesome results.
Rating: Summary: I didn't think it could get better! Review: Martha has out done herself, if that is even possible! These are all the recipes I always wished she would have compiled into one book. I will be busy cooking for the next year. Thank you, Martha, for such dedicated work. Way to go!
Rating: Summary: Tres Bien! Review: Martha Stewart has done it again! This book is now my favorite! I don't know what recipe to try next! Martha, please don't write anymore cookbooks - so I don't have to buy another cookbook!
Rating: Summary: Love to cook - love to eat even more! Review: OK...I'm not a big fan of Martha, every time I see her on TV I can't help but wonder where the "creativity" comes from...she seems so bland. What I like about the cookbook are some of the "101" recipes, for basics with zip. The meatloaf is amazing, and my mashed potatoes are crowd pleasers. What I don't like is that there is no estimate on prep time, whether this is something good to freeze, and what would be good to serve with it, etc. So in a sense, a little outdated in presentation.
Rating: Summary: A great book with lots of ideas Review: The book covers many recipes that I have seen on her show. I love the pictures, but I wish there were more. There is a recipe for literally everything you can imagine.
Rating: Summary: Perfect companion to The Martha Stewart Cookbook Review: This book is culled from 10 years of the magazine, and that's great--if you don't own a bunch of the other books. I do, and I've noticed that a lot of stuff gets republished. I didn't buy the book "Comfort Foods," because I already had much of it elsewhere. But guess what? The Gingerbread Snacking Cake from "Comfort Foods" is also in this book. I am, however, disappointed, that my favorite apple snacking cake from october or November 1996 was not in this book; that has to be my all time favorite cake, where you make the applesauce and then make the cake--my Auntie still talks about that cake, and I hope to make it agani one day (if I can find the recipe in the old magazine.) It's actually a very good book, "the best of the best," they say, especially if you have only become a subscriber or viewer recently. But still, if you're buying lots of the other smaller books, you'll find some repetition. That being said, the Bacon and Egg Pie, which was published in May 2000 in an article on doing breakfast, is without equal. Rich, creamy, (any low-carbers and Somersizers paying attention?) and full of what you eat breakfast for. Mushrooms, fried crisp in bacon grease, slivered bell peppers, bacon (of course) Parmesan and goat cheese (I've used other white cheeses with great success)and--YES!--cream. Cup and a half. Make this on the weekend for the entire week, and maybe some home made sausage too, if you're of a mind to do so. Fabulous. The Lemon Poppyseed Snacking cake went over well at a religious activity, as did the Gingerbread Snacking cake. Not too sweet, and VERY good. Yum. If you like to cook (or eat), this would be a good addition to your collection, especially if you don't subscribe to the magazine. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: I Would Eat in Martha's Kitchen Anyday Review: This book is full of all sorts of delightful culinary masterpieces. This book has changed my life. Before getting this book, I could not cook. No one wanted to come to my home because they could not bear to eat my hors d'ouvres. However, after buying this book, I started to cook like Martha. This book includes recipes for desserts, main courses, appetizers, and lots of other foods. It even has a convienient index so you can easily look up your favorite recipes. Even a pathetic homemaker wannabe like me can cook like a TV homemaker. Now, everyone wants to be my friends just so they can eat the wonderful goodies I prepare for them. In fact, my home is now the hub of suburban society. I have been elected president of the PTA and the neighborhood watch. Thanks, Martha!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Collection Review: This is a beautiful and practical book. The recipes I have tried work wonderfully and are presented in a lucid format. I wonder if one reviewer who complained that the recipes didn't turn out needs more practice in the kitchen--After all, if one is used to macaroni and cheese from a box, Martha's recipe will be a new and (hopefully) inspiring experience. Check out the "Basics" chapter! Most recipes are accessible to the budding cook, and most ingredients are commonplace. The "Pantry and Equipment" chapter is an inspiration, even though it could take a lifetime to assemble the ideal kitchen and pantry. The entire book is well-indexed for quick location of a specific recipe or ingredient. Martha Stewart junkies will not need to be persuaded to buy this book. This would make a terrific gift for anyone as a first cookbook or as a supplement to an old hand's library.
