Rating: Summary: A must for any kitchen commando! Review: A great cookbook and a fun read! Rarely does a cookbook deliver you so much more than just instruction--Wilber gives some interesting trivia on the restaurants and the dishes. You will not be able to tell the difference between the actual restaurant items and Wilber's versions. As a cookbook fanatic, I think it is a must for any kitchen library
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC RECIPES TO TICKLE YOUR TASTE BUDS! Review: Although I have travelled a great deal over the years, in my little corner of the world we are not blessed with such restaurants as the Hard Rock Cafe, the Olive Garden, etc. and this book is the next best thing to being there. Many "clone recipes" can be found on the internet, and some in other knock-off cookbooks, but none come so close to the real thing as the recipes in this book. Red Robin's Mountain High Mud Pie is sinfully delicious, calories and all, and the Watermelon Ribs from the Hard Rock Cafe are absolutely mouth-watering. If you are looking for the next best thing to being there, this book is certainly it! Not all the recipes are quick and easy but they certainly are worth the time and effort.
Rating: Summary: A RESTAURATEUR'S REVIEW Review: AS AN INDEPENDENT RESTAURATEUR, I FOUND THIS BOOK VERY INTERESTING, BOTH IN THE INTRODUCTION AND IN THE RECIPE SECTION. I FOUND PARTICULARLY INTERESTING SOME OF THE SAUCES THAT ARE HELD AS TRADE SECRETS, BUT UNVEILED HERE. AN EASY READ.
Rating: Summary: Restaurant Ribs At Home Review: I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend because we used to love the Tony Roma's ribs chain before it moved out of our area. This book allowed me to recreate those ribs at home. Easy to follow directions, interesting history for the restaurants, as well as being a great collection of recipes you would actually use. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Top Secret Cookbook Review: I bought this cookbook a couple of months ago it has been fantastic. Every dish that I have tried has been great. I hope to use it more in the future. The recipes are easy to follow and simple to do. I was able to find alot of the recipes I was looking for.
Rating: Summary: YOU'LL THINK YOU'RE IN A RESTAURANT!! Review: I don't know how Todd Wilbur did it but the recipes in this book are so close to the restaurant version you'll be AMAZED!The Benihana Hibachi Chicken is as good, if not better then the restaurant version (at a fraction of the cost!) and the same goes for the Applebees Quesadillas! As a cookbook collector, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this one! You won't be disappointed! Thanks Todd!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fantastic book! Review: I found that the book was a great investment for people who might not have the funds or the patience to be at the restaurants all the time to have great food. Everything that I've made has been excellent, and though I'm sure that the author tried to find the closest ingredients that could be found with ease at your local market (and in comments to the people who gave a bad review that he couldn't find the ingredients out of the country, we're lucky someone has found a way for us to make the recipes at ALL! How's he supposed to know you can't get Mayo where you are and what substitution you could use in its place? ) Also to the person who made the comment about it not being "gourmet fare" the recipes that are in the book aren't supposed to all be gourmet fare, they're supposed to be recipes most people LOVE & it wasn't like you couldn't look over the book and judge if it was for you before you bought it! I LOVE this book, and it looks like everyone else does too! Great Job Todd! THANKS!
Rating: Summary: I'm a believer Review: I have found that every recipe I have tried (I have all 3 books) has lived up the claim of clone. I've made the Hooters wings numerous times (they were a big hit at a Memorial Day party), the Wendy's chili, the Benihana's dipping sauces and fried rice and many more. I have loved the book so much that friends have borrowed it and have been convinced too. Now we are planning a Top Secret Restaurant Recipes dinner and I am giving this book to many friends as gifts so they'll stop borrowing mine. I can't wait for the next book!
Rating: Summary: Not all that. Review: I have some of Gloria Pitzer books so maybe that is why I didn't like this book.Mr Wilbur thinks the secret to KFC is MFG, no way. Maybe it is just me but, when I buy a cook book I don't want a lot of talk and a lot pictures, I know how to put a hamburger together. Don't buy this book it is a waste of your time and money.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding book. Review: I have two of the Todd Wilbur books and have truly enjoyed both of them. In many cases the recipe isn't like the original food... it's better. A good example of this is the Lone Star Steak House Texas Rice. The "real" thing pales in comparison. Today we dined on Tony Roma's ribs (great sauce, by the way)
