Summary: Read this book in one Night!!
Review: As a Director of Catering I collect a lot of cookbooks. In fact if you like this review you might want to check out my listmania list I have several on cookbooks.
Now to my review. This book, in my opinion, is Beautifully put together. Recipes are easy to read with items that are accesible at most grocery stores. The stories throughout the books and little articles that in reference to the series was a excellent idea. This book had so many different little added extras that it was hard for me to remember that this was a fictional family they were speaking of LOL. I especially like the page of top 10 Famous Food scenes in Mob movies it was interesting. The book has recipes from Appetizers to Desserts. No Fuss to a little Elaborate. Pictures are nice and I had the feeling, after reading this book, that I could do many of these recipes even if I wasn't a Director of Catering.

I highly recommend this book for anyone that enjoys Italian Food or the Series, in fact I had an idea to do a Gift Basket for Christmas with the DVD's (from the series), this Cookbook, a Sinatra CD and a bottle of Ruffino Chiante what a perfect evening.

If you find that you like this style of cookbook, ethnic or because it tells a story along with the recipes also check
Van Gogh's Table (the artist life story is throughout the book), and Soul Food: Recipes & Reflections from African-American Churches by Joyce White

Summary: Delicious Italian Food with a Famous Family
Review: The recipes are great, and this book is a must for any Sopranos fan. I know that I love cooking Italian food anyway before watching the show, and I keep an eye out to see what wines they're drinking. For example, in the famous scene where Janice gets rid of her finace Richie for punching her, there's a bottle of Ruffino Chianti on the table! This book makes it even easier to get into the mood.

A great way to enjoy delicious food and feel like you're part of the family!

Summary: Creating an oxymoron--a fun cookbook!
Review: One doesn't generally think of cookbooks as entertaining, but this one is. That's just a bonus, however, as the fulsome, tongue-in-cheek, rambling escapades of the Soprano's and their "associates' juxtapose against some very fine Italian recipes.

I'm only a casual Soprano viewer but, nevertheless, I found the character spiels quite entertaining. They are just wacky/tacky enough for entertainment without roaming into the completely absurd-or worse, boring.

We've tried several recipes and found all excellent. They are well and logically displayed, the instructions are clear, and the lists of ingredients complete.

The book does have one down side-these are not, on the whole, low fat offerings. I suppose the "family" worldview is if we can't get you one way, we can get you another!

Probably snobby cooks will roll their eyes and pooh-pooh the whole thing, but for the rest of us these folks have created a wonderfully useful oxymoron-a fun cookbook!

Review: Michele is the name of a MALE! In fact it is Italian for MICHAEL -- YOUR NAME IN ITALIAN!

Summary: Yuck
Review: As an Italian-American, I cringe at anything associated with the continued presentation of this ethnic group as stupid, violent, abusive gangsters. Why other Italian-Americans want to take part in and further promote this stereotype is beyond me.

Summary: This is a fun cook book
Review: The Italians like to eat. I know - I married one. They always try to force food down your throat even though you may have just ate an hour ago or you are full. Anyway, this is pretty cool for a cookbook. I like all the little stories in it as well.
I also am not related to the actor that plays Artie on Sopranos because it is my married name. I just hate that they call red sauce "gravy"...it makes my skin crawl. Gravy is brown or white! But if you are a Sopranos fan you will like this. I am way to lazy to cook any of this stuff but I like to read it.

Summary: A very good cookbook
Review: I got a little bit of Soprano in my blood line, Of course mine is on the Iowa timber side of the family...My mom bought me this book for Christmas and I must say it's a keeper! If your a Rick Black fan, than I being Rick Black, recommends this book. This book is truly a gift to share with others. Just like my new beverage of choice that replaced my morning brew. Its called s oyfee and taste so wonderful with no caffeine or acids. Organic and made from soya! Bye bye acid stomach and hello healthy tummy! Google it under "acid free coffee".

I learned to cook by being in the kitchen with my mom, and every Sunday and especially on holidays, we'd make macaroni (we never called it pasta) meatballs and sausage, and if it was an occasion, bracciole. Gravy (not sauce) cooked all morning, flavored by the meat. Today I make these recipes but have never had them written down. Reading through the different dishes in the cookbook, I see that they are prepared exactly the way my family has always made them. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes I've always loved but didn't know how to cook.
