Summary: A New Zealand Reviewer
Review: When I first saw this book I thought, "Here we go. A book based on the Soprano's full of complicated recipes with hard to get ingredients." Being a true Soprano's fan I bought it and had a quick read of it. I enjoyed the articles, interviews and photography and then put it aside. A few months later on a whim or some sub-conscious impulse I bought a pasta machine plus attachments for making spagetti and ravioli. I got out the book again and started actually trying the recipes. First the ravioli, then the veal piccata. Yesterday the Scampi. Every recipe I have made has turned out just great and surprise...the ingredients are not that difficult to get. My supermarket even has the cheese types. I am now growing my own Basil and flat leafed parsley. Thanks to this book and the Sopranos I have discovered Italian cuisine.

Summary: What's not to like?!?!?
Review: Written as if Artie was a real person....
Interviews with family and friends....letters from characters...great pictures of food and pictures from the series......and the recipes are marvelous!!!
I've already tried the Braciole and the Rigatoni with sweet sausage and tomato sauce....I couldn't have been happier with the results.
There are some really simple recipes and some that are more complex, but all sound fantastic and I will continue to try them! Bravo!

Summary: Ya better like it... or else!
Review: The stories and recipes are both wonderful! Some may claim this to be a Soprano's rip-off, but I say, "Lighten up, it's only a book." The purpose of reading is to learn and to be entertained. You'll do both with this. Pop open some vino and enjoy!

Summary: Very funny text, actually useful recipes too
Review: This is a hilarious book for fans of the Sopranos and, perhaps surprisingly, an actually rather good Southern Italian cookbook too.

If you or anybody you know was born in Avellino you will recognize the recipes as authentic and good.

We made the Veal Picatta substituting chicken for the Veal last night and it was excellent. Can't wait to find a job so I can afford to buy some veal!

Summary: Amore' - I love this book from cover to cover!
Review: I bought this cook book as a gift for my sister. She raved about it so much that I was compelled to buy myself a copy.
I love the easy reading, simple but delicious recipes and beautiful photographs.
My late Italian Aunty Josie would have loved this cookbook. She was the best cook and loved to feed everybody whether you were hungry or not. "Sit down and eat something" (mangia) was her motto.
She would whip up pasta and oglio al dante. Just one of the many favorites she made. I was thrilled to see that recipe in the cookbook.
Nonetheless, I grew up eating many of the Italian dishes described in this cookbook. Sunday dinners, Christmas Eve, holiday's & celebrations, this book brought back memories! Italians focus everything around large quantities of food.
Now, I feel as though I can continue the family tradition with the Sorprano Family Cookbook. Sadly Aunty Josie passed on with out passing on her homemade recipes to the Fichera family....We may not be the Sorprano's but we are still family!

Summary: A Sopranos Rip-off
Review: These are NOT Sopranos' recipes. For true Sopranos fans the book is just a marketing ploy. The recipes sound very good but the only connection with the Sopranos is that they are for Italian food, (and there are some cutesy pie "quotes" from Sopranos characters). Carm's famous Lasagna recipe, "with fresh basil leacves under the cheese" as Uncle Junior tells Bobby when he tells her about the lasagna that Janice "made" but was really passing off as her own, isn't even included or attributed to her. How hard would that have been? Buy it for the recoipes not for the Sopranos connection.

Summary: Great present
Review: As HUGE fans of the show, I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It includes traditional/unique Italian dishes that are mentioned on the show created by Carmela.

Each character has it's own section...desserts, main entrees, etc.

This cookbook would be a great find for any Soprano's fan.

Summary: GREAT book
Review: My mother in law bought it for me as a joke because I'm Italian AND a Soprano's addict. The recipes are EASY, WONDERFUL and DELICIOUS! A must have for every Soprano's fan!

Summary: This book is definitely worth it!
Review: This book is fantastic! The Veal (Chicken) Marsala was the first recipe I used. It tasted like it was from a great Italian restaurant. The chicken practically melts in one's mouth! Terrific!

Summary: Just like mom used to make...really!
Review: I asked for this book for christmas being a big sopranos fan. I was quickly in for a great surprise. Both my brother (who also got the book for christmas) and I were discussing the dishes and recipes and how familiar they looked. We grew up eating dishes like this having an Brooklyn Italian mother and grandmother in the house who were excellent cooks. The recipes even sounded familiar. For New Years Eve, my wife treated me and the family to a selection of dishes including the Sunday Gravy, Chicken Francese, Meatballs, Escarole and little meatball soup, and even some shrimp scampi. I felt like I was 10 again eating food prepared by my mother and grandmother. The food was excellent. To my surprise, I found out why these were so familiar. I notice that the recipes were written by Michelle Scicolone. The name looked familiar to me. It turns out, Michelle and my mother were cousins, sharing the same Grandparents from Naples. These REALLY ARE the recipes I grew up eating. I can't wait to pick up more cookbooks from Michelle. Buy this book if you love good, home cooked, italian food. I'm still stuffed! My Aunt Louise raised and excellent chef!!
