Rating: Summary: Too religious.... Review: This book has more to do with the authors believs then with "facts" and expierences. Id recommend something more professional especially for people that want to start eating raw.
Rating: Summary: BE WARNED! Review: This book is a very strange read. It is emotional and unscientific to such a degree that it is hard to describe. Outrageous claims are made with no explanation or scientific backing what so ever. A quick look at a random page reveals her weird thinking: "if we follow our heart and do what we are meant to do with this life, then we become dedicated spiritual beings, and we can be granted an extra portion of energy from the universe."It is very tiring to look for useful information in between all the "crazy stuff". I still did, and even though I found most of the book to be utterly useless, there were a couple of interesting anecdotes on how trusting your taste buds might lead you to the foods you need, and a few other interesting points. Whether they are worth reading the book for, I am not sure.
Rating: Summary: Great Stuff Review: This was a wonderful book on the subject, and Alison's video "Rawfully Good" was an amazingly delicious eye-opener too!
Rating: Summary: Just what I needed Review: Victoria Boutenko does an awesome job of just making it so simple. Raw food is so scary for us and she lets us know why. Ask yourself...why am I so opposed to this way of eating? I did and got some answers that had nothing to do with eating to sustain life. Great book, great author, I've made the recipes in this book as well and they turned out tasty. I have given this book to my family members to read as well as people in my church. I highly recommend everyone read it.
Rating: Summary: Too religious.... Review: Victoria Boutenko's book, Twelve Steps to Raw Foods, helped me to change my diet and my health. Since switching over to a raw foods diet, my illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic acne, and major mood swings have all but vanished. I have lots of energy, can sleep like a baby, my skin is clear, and I'm a much more peaceful and happy person. Ms. Boutenko's book has been an integral part of my healing process, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's ready to look and feel better!

Rating: Summary: Addicted, are You? Review: We were very glad to read this while in the first few months of deciding to go 100% Raw! It has helped us. I encourage others to get the book and stay the path! It will help you too! If you can go listen to the "Raw Family" speak - DO IT! We just did in Orlando. Very encouraging and great FOOD! And when it boils down to it... Isn't it about your health and having the food taste good! Right?!!!
Rating: Summary: this book is rockin'! Review: What can I say? Victoria has loads of common sense, and SIMULTANEOUSLY has the guts to go 100% raw. Her book is chock-full of useful suggestions on how to deal with the temptations of cooked food wherever you find it, at work, at home, in the grocery store, at family gatherings, waling by a restaurant, etc., etc. The only people who SHOULDN'T buy this book are the ones who are never around cooked food and never will be again. I don't know anybody like that. I'm 100% raw, and I'm DEFINITELY not like that.
Rating: Summary: BeforeI ever read the book... Review: When I first purchased this book I was so excited by the raw food world. I read it and found it useful so I sent a copy to my mother who was struggling with breast cancer, thinking it would benefit her to have a step-by-step approach to healthy eating. Months later, I reread the book from an editorial frame of mind and can say I was appalled to find conceptual breakdowns throughout the first six chapters. There are only sparse references to nutritionist and hygienist, there is no sense of respect for academic pursuits of knowledge. On the contrary, this book is highly individual and has been an intellectual embarrasment to the raw food lifestyle. I don't know if this is the theme of the raw-ers or not but I critically suggest that a change towards being able to defend one's ideas with tractable scientific evidence is more crucial today than ever before. We are seeing the insanity of the Atkin's diet sweeping the country with its powerful marketing and weight loss results. I worry that the voice of raw food will become ignored if we cannot find the critical eye to back up our claims with evidence and speak honestly while admitting our ignorance when we are ignorant. If you want a recommendation for a raw book I would suggest this one only for the recipes and a very skeptical inquiry into the rest of the book(...) In a nutshell, there are much better books on this subject out there. Ms Boutenko's train of thought is contradictory and unclear. The best recommendation for this book would be a new edition.
